It was me (or was it "I"?!)  that did the salmon fishcakes Wendy.   I didn't use a recipe I'm afraid but I think fishcakes are something that don't need accurate quantities.

I had some mashed potato left over so I blitzed this (probably speed 5 for 10 seconds, maybe a bit more) with some fresh salmon (about twice as much salmon as potato), parsley, chives and salt and pepper, a little lemon juice and an egg.   I then made them into cakes about 2 cm thick and dipped these in a beaten egg and then in some breadcrumbs (made from left-over bread).

Fried them in medium-hot oil for about 4 minutes each side and served them with a creme fraiche tartare sauce which I will post in the sauce section and peas and a green salad

Today I made 2 lots of Isi's Portuguese bread, light Panna Cotta with strawberry coulis to go with it,  Stuffed Chicken pockets with Vegetables & potatoes and a pineapple & orange nectar based on Isi's mango & orange nectar.

Oh  Julie! We will never tire of your photos! I just wish that I could pop over to your house for tea! ;D

Well Thermomixer, I made your yummy crumpets last night! I will post my review and photos in place (as soon as I get them out of my new camera that Santa bought me for xmas!) They really were yummy, we all stuffed our faces in the kitchen smothered in salty butter! Lush! I made them in my waffle maker, perfect! I wonder if there is any else I could make in that, scotch pancakes would be nice, or even Irish potato bread/cakes......don't suppose anyone has a recipe that could be adapted for those? ??? ??? ???

Thanks bron - they are very moreish when they come hot off the grill.  Have to really control the urge and keep some to reheat another time 9or make when there are enough people to devour them in sensible amounts)

They look similar to the ones I make with sourdough batter - I use them as a base for mini pizzas - set out a tray of various toppings, cheeses and a selection of sauces, let guests assemble their own then "bake" them  in  toaster ovens (I have two). 
Great party food.

I used to host a friend from England who was regularly invited to southern Calif. to judge at dog shows.  He was the son of two entertainers who had danced and sung in variety shows for many years  beginning near the turn of the century (1900). 
He used to sing a little song about a gentleman who squired a "strumpet, quite a crumpet" to "the Lord Mayor's" ball and all the hilarity that entailed.  I can't recall anything else of the song but it was funny.  He passed away, years ago, he was in his '70s back then in the early '80s.

That little story made me a little sad - reminds me of some of my relatives from the UK and all the fun and frivolity they had - all gone.

My grandfather loved Shakespeare and the like, while my grandmother loved the variety halls.  Though she always appeared prim and proper, until she had to go to a nursing home when she was in her 90s and then met up with people who had also been in the same town (Glasgow)  with those shows.  My mother tells stories (although she's losing it now too) of the oldies singing all these bawdy old tunes that would have made my maiden aunts blush.  At least she died happy.

Today I made a loaf of isi's normal bread plus a small cob loaf for Mum, cooked potatoes and eggs for a salad and a small amount of coleslaw to use up the bit of cabbage and carrot in the crisper. Perth has sent their 40oC over the border to us here in South Australia. Cooked the bread outside in the weber for the first time. Now I'm going out to try the orange/pineapple version of the nectar.

Sorry about that Judy, Amanda, Trudy and others. We tried to take the hot part out before we sent it over!

I haven't done any cooking yet as I have been catching up on housework. (I got a guilty feeling about the house). I'm planning to make heaps of pesto as my basil has gone mad, then the Frangipan slice thing in the calendar and the Festive book. Dinner is a roast as we have a coolish day.  I want to make some more of Isi's bread but the freezer is about to explode.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.
