I haven't been eating many veggies of late so today I steamed a whole load of them, made a cheese sauce and now have plenty of packs in the freezer.

There's nothing like Vegies in a  cheese sauce. You could even put pastry over the top and create a pie if you wished Judy.
It's lovely to see you back and posting.

When I was shopping I saw a punnet of Kalettes. They are a cross between kale and Brussels. I threw a few in to be steamed last night for a few minutes
With the other Vegies. They weren't too bad. DH said he wouldn't climb over broken glass for them!

Your seeded Lavosh looks lovely Cookie.
I've made a batch of Orange Poppyseed muffins.  I am taking them to a casual lunch meeting with friends. A group of us are sharing a house in Margaret river for a 4 day weekend at the end of the month. We are meeting today to organise who is bringing what.

That sounds like a fun long weekend  Katj.

Good idea cookie.  I also have some cooked chicken in the freezer so if I decide to make a pie or two down the track I could poke some amongst the veggies.

Today I've made a brown sugar sweet potato cake from the new TMX chip. I topped it with a lemon cream cheese icing. Haven't tasted it yet.

For dinner we had steak, with polenta chips (I used the cheesy polenta recipe from Meat On The Menu book) with vegies and a chorizo mushroom and pepper sauce (based loosely on mushroom sauce recipe from the EDC).

Did DH enjoy the polenta chips as much as those you had in that restaurant last week Katie?
Great cooking!

Lovely looking food Katie, I must check out the Polenta chip recipe. I don't think I 'Ve ever used my Meat on the Menu Book.

I rarely use that book either, but looking through it there are some interesting recipes. I think the only other things I've made from it are Chorizo & Lentil Stew and Teriyaki Beef with Soba Noodles (which is lovely and very easy).

Great cooking!

Probably not Judy, as my chips weren't as crispy as the ones he had at the restaurant. I oven baked them which is probably why. I still have a big slab of polenta left, so I might play around with it and try pan frying some and air frying some as well. I'm sure the restaurant deep fried theirs (but I'm not doing that). He did enjoy them though.
