I saw some apricots at the green grocer this morning for $3.50 kg, a lot cheaper than the ones I bought a week ago.  I bought 3kg and spent the afternoon making jam.  Now have 8 small jars 4 large ones and a bowl of stewed fruit.
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

Some great cooking going on. 100 pies Astarra - well done. The sticky date biscuits and bread rolls look lovely Cookie. About to go to the recipe for the biscuits. I remember the recipe for the potato and lettuce soup from a Xmas thermomix class. It was really nice.

Great cooking everyone, love the pies astarra. I've noticed that apricots are cheaper Margaret (at some stores anyway) and the best part is that the ones I bought were actually ripe and tasted like an apricot  :D

I made some apricot jam from some frozen apricot halves I bought. We only have 1 jar left so I must keep my eyes open for some reasonably priced ones. The cheapest I've seen so far were $13.99/Kg.

We certainly do Chookie. The best part is that no one minds sharing their wonderful recipes, methods and adaptions.

What to do with 8 dozen eggs? Our chooks have been laying like made. I gave away 4 dozen then thought I would bake with some. Made Egg and bacon pies , pasties and egg, corn and bacon for the firemen. Then No cream Vanilla slice.  Lovely recipe. Thanks.

I've made a strawberry & raspberry jam, Tenina's cacao nib shortbread and some gingerbread cookies today. They're all destined for family christmas hampers as we're having our extended family christmas gathering this weekend. I thought the jam might make more than the 6 little jars I had, so I got another one out for the overflow. But in the end it actually only made 5 jars. So now I need to decide who gets one and who doesn't. I might not bother making another batch since I already have a couple more jars of my own (ratty looking ones).

Delicious looking food Chookie and yours sounds lovely too Sarah. I have been meaning to make the cacao nib shortbread for a while.

The shortbread is so good that I've ended up making another batch so that I have plenty for everyone!
