Made Toffee Nut Bars from here
http://lovefoodies.com/toffee-nut-bars.html
using macadamia nuts instead of walnuts and also a batch of Almond Macaroons from a very old recipe cutting. They are more like a biscuit.

Lovely cooking everyone. Thanks for sharing your favourites at the moment K Atie. I'm in the process of making some SD bread. It is very slow rising in this weather. Have made a Bread and Butter pudding for dessert tonight.

Hello all, I made 40 cup cakes last night, and 2 batches of Denzlemums choc brownies for my DS who is 11 today.

Lovely cooking Judy and Robyn.
I spent the day yesterday cooking for the freezer. SC beef stew, Lamb Vegetable & Apricot Tagine, Sweet & Sour Sausage casserole. Plus a loaf of No Fuss Bread.

That should fill a few shelves in your freezer Margaret, lovely meals.
For the second time in 2 weeks I've pulled out a mince pack instead of skirt steak for a SC meal. Normally my inventory work well without having to label each pack but it was a mistake to put flat packs of both mince and skirt in the same drawer, they look the same. First time I made cottage pies, today I've made a pot of stew. Will have to tidy up some of the drawers later to fit a few more meals in there.

I had a chuckle at that Judy. I use skirt for all my SC meals.
Robyn you have been very busy. I hope your DS enjoys his birthday.
Margaret, I would love to rob your freezer. Last night I made a 1kg of mince spag bog. This morning lots went into the freezer. We will take one batch away with us, but we don't have a freezer with us this trip as we are taking the Baby A van.
We had soup last night and DD had been telling me about a Olive and Rosemary bread. I decided to try and re create it. I used Chookie's No Fuss recipe and added olives and rosemary. It is delicious. I managed to guess the balance quite well.

MAB19 the sweet and sour sausage casserole is that a Fourm recipe ? Made a batch of Better homes and gardens cold and flu drink , was thinking of making lamb shank and barley soup but not sure if the shanks would cook well in the varoma ? Any ideas . Might have to get the slow cooker out . About to make Skinnymixers butter chicken , such a delicious meal . All could head south if I don't start now .

Katie, I always use the slow cooker for lamb and barley soup as well as smoked ham bones or hock and pea soup. Think they both need slow long cooking.
Nice cooking girls.
Judy , it is a bit of a shock when you pull something out of freezer and it isn't what you expect.
Cookie, how long will you be away? What do you prepare to take if no freezer. . .?

I found a handy recipe on Slowcookercentral.com
It was for Classic curried Mince. I added chopped celery to it and for the last 1/2 hour a cup of peas. I also thickened it with cornflour mixed with a little water.
I use homemade curry powder and 2 tablespoons wasn't quite hot enough for us but very tasty. 1k of mince made a huge amount, we had it over cauliflower rice, DH took some for lunch one day and I still have some in the freezer.
It would be great in pies or toasted sandwiches or just on its own.
