ES, that loaf sure looks good so I checked out the recipe.  I ask why would you put ice cubes in the oven if there is a lid on the container? There is enough liquid in the recipe to rise when baking.

Your bread looks lovely ES

I made abatch  of SD crumpets this morning for breakfast.  I can't believe how easy these were to make.  I'ill certainly be making more or them.

Chookie I think for some people throwing ice cubes in is a common practise. I hardly ever do it, as the crust I get suits me.
Margaret I agree about the crumpets, they are perfect.

I hope to do a bit of cooking today. I just realised I have a week to prepare MIL's administrative details for the State Administrative Trustees as we hope to go away at the beginning of August. It isn't a hard job, just one that I hate!

Have made the Lemon and carrot jam using Tangelos as suggested by Katie. Made 3 nice jars and a bit to sample. Less than $2 for the 3 jars. So easy, cleaned the oven and did the washing while it was cooking. Love my TMX.

That would be a winner with me too suzanne, anything with an ice-cream goes down well here. Happy birthday to DS.

Had a visitor for dinner last night so did Aliro's Tomato-ey Smoked Chickpeas, my favourite "Man Magnet Mushrooms" (that's my new name for them following our visitor's reaction!), Kimmy's Moist Carrot Cake - covered by a vegan icky sweet buttercream icing (I had to scrape it all off it was so sweet - lesson learned, recipe dumped!).  Today just doing a big pot of vege stew and Smoky Refried Bean Soup - which, if it is thick, my DH wants me to use it as a pasta sauce - I will be interested to see how that works!

Lamb shank and barley soup in the SC. another lot of Tangelo and carrot marmalade in TMX.
Marina, your meals always sound interesting.
Suzanne, it always surprises me what the young ones order for their Birthdays.

Lamb shank soup sounds lovely Chookie, pity they are so expensive these days.  Mum used to make that soup in her pressure cooker, she was a great soup maker.

I also love reading what you've been cooking Marina and I'm sure the soup will be thick enough to use as a pasta sauce.

That's a nice loaf of bread Chookie.

Suzanne your Chocolate Cake & Icecream look delicious.  A match made in heaven for children.

I have Kimmy's Boiled Fruit Cake in the oven at the moment.  Smells lovely.

We ran out of bread today so made a Cobb Loaf this afternoon.
