Hi MeganJane, Is your welsh rarebit recipe in one of the cook books or one of your own.  I haven't had welsh rarebit for a long long time.
Sounds like you are having fun Cookie, a bet a few of us wish we were there with you.  Enjoy.

Hi rainbow, I've never had it before and it was delicious! It's one of Nigella's recipes that I've converted.
Grate 75g tasty cheese (I did 90g), remove from bowl and set aside.
Heat 1tsp of butter with 2 tsp flour in TMX for a minute or so. Add 1 - 2 tsp English Mustard and a dollop of milk, then add the cheese and cook until bubbly.

Today made bread, then pizza dough and pizza sauce.
Tonight we had a traditional lamb roast, so all I used Thermie for was dessert which was pears poached in a syrup of raw sugar, water with cinnamon, star anise and a vanilla pod, then served ice cream topped with a raspberry sauce made in the TMX.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

What an inspiration this thread is.  ILB,  love the look of the sour dough,  it should toast well.  I make sour dough bread crumbs if there is any over.

made tomato and potato soup,  the tomatoes were not very sweet so added a little Maple Syrup and a small tin of light Evaporated Milk.   Made a loaf of fruit bread from the Hot X Buns recipe.   Then baked apples with a slice of left over Xmas Pud on top.   Also mashed pots.  to go with the roast Veal.  Tonight I will be making Persimmon Paste ;D

Now that I have the TMX and can finally do something with our persimmons - we have the most abundant tree but I couldn't ever be bothered trying to slave over a stove to convert them into something else!

Chookie, is the persimmon paste similar to the quince paste?  is there a recipe?

Versaceyoyo,  I used the Quince paste recipe method,  but changed the ingredients a bit.  I found that the Persimmons didn't have a lot of flavor,  so i added 2 teaspoons of ground cardamon,  (to 850g of original mix).  I also added 1/4 cup of lemon juice.  The real disadvantage is the peeling and de pipping.  Took ages.  I was tempted to add some walnuts,  but didn't in the end.  If you have them growing,  have a go.  I think it will make an interesting addition and  discussion to a cheese platter.

yes Maddy your breads are looking really good.  Chookie my persimmon tree has the really soft style of fruit - I find it quite disgusting actually, but some people love them.
