V you could put your persimmons through a mouli, and use the pulp for paste.

Today I made a cottage pie and instead of just plain mashed potato used 600g potato and 500g cauliflower mashed together. I was a bit disappointed you couldn't really taste the cauli as I love that vegetable but thought it would therefore be a good trick for any Mum out there who has kids who don't like this vegie.

I will be trying to do something with them next season as you have suggested chookie - great tips thanks.

Today I made Kaylene's Creamy Chicken Cacciatori and my very first loaf of sour dough bread using the recipe on Chookies blog
http://achookwoman.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2010-05-03T03%3A13%3A00-07%3A00&max-results=7
.
I am happy with it and it tastes lovely but I'm sure I can do better next time. I ate several slices then had to freeze it or I would have almost eaten the lot. Thanks Chookie for your patience and help.

Beautiful loaf shape JD, looks nice and fluffy.
After baking all my own bread since I bought TMX, I finally bought a proper bread tin and tried it out yesterday. After months of battling to get loaves out, and ending up with holes in most, I was delighted that my bread just slid straight out of the tin. Fantastic! Now we can have delicious bread without big gaping holes in the side.

Good work to both JD for the pic and Cb79 for getting the bread tin - really will enjoy bread making now and then kids won't have to worry about the shape of the bread that they take to school !

I love my bread tin - it's like a small miracle each time the bread just falls out!
Today:
Pikelets for breakfast (EDC)

Rice to have with left over enchiladas from last night (the Meat on the Menu sour cream and chicken ones - tasty)

Today I have cooked Chicken and caraway broth, Marshmallow and jam tart, Sweet Potato & Zucchini fritters and for lunch we had panfried steak, Varoma steamed vegies, panfried potato slices and I tried that Brown Sauce recipe I posted for VYY. Off to post some recipes.

Thanks ILB. I'm hoping I can get to do it a lot faster. Took me 3 hours to post 3 pictures & 2 recipes this afternoon. I knew what I was doing but the computer was going so slowly today.

Well done, JD - the bread looks beautiful!! I was trying to make sour dough today but it's not working
I was given some starter from a friend, and kept it in the fridge for a few days, then left it out overnight to get it to room temp, and made the sponge this morning... left it to sit all day, and it's done nothing! Sigh. Must have done something wrong. I fed the starter, and it's all foamy tonight, so maybe I'll try again with it tomorrow.

More quince paste again today
So far I have 27 wrapped and stored, and I estimate the grand tally will be in the 40's! Not bad for a bit of sugar and some time
