Yes, I love my Laucke mixes. I may have to get something different next time as I can’t find any Laucke anywhere. I won’t run out for a week or two so I will keep looking.
Making breads and HCB as well as rolls is keeping me happy at the moment, seeing there are no coffee or car outings.
No cooking here today. I popped up to my Italian grocer. It’s only a small shop so I had to queue to get in today. It was one out and then one in.

I haven’t been shopping for 5 weeks and am missing it.  It is good to have things delivered but I miss the social interaction. I would love to line up at an Italian grocer.  Lucky you Cookie.

Lots of great cooking going on. The cocnut and lemon soup sound interesting. I haven't looked at any of Jo's recipes in a long time. It would be nice to be able to pop into an Italian grocer or an Asian one.

It looks as if you’re having great success with your cooking these days Michele. I remember the days when nothing much turned out for you.

It's only since having to stay at home that I thought I would try cooking again. My baking supplies are very low and it will be hard to build that up again at the moment. Luckily I found Lauke bread mix on the shelf.

Mab, all Laucke mix flours have salt, sugar and improver included. ( including the Crispy White)  Laucke Wallaby flour does not have anything added. Anything that says Bread flour does not have anything added.  In my opinion Laucke mixes are the best flour available.  Then Wallaby, then the rest.  I add improver to all bread flour except Laucke mixes. Mab , hope this help.

Thanks for that Chookie.  No wonder my bread was good, it was getting a double dose of sugar & salt. :)   I'm making another loaf today without the extras.  What do you use for the improver?
The  man who said it can't be done should not interupt the woman doing it.

If you have a bread mix Mab you don't need to worry about improver.

I have a Classic loaf rising at the moment.

Mab, you can buy Improver at the Supermarket. It is near the bread flour.  Only use it with non Laucke ( mix) flour for bread.  I believe a vitamin c tablet does the same.
I took a massive leg of lamb from the freezer. Using my skills as a butcher’s daughter, I cut it into 3.  I popped the shank end into the SC and made lamb shank and barley soup.  I roasted  1 piece and refrozen the other bit.
I made DD an olive, rye and Rosemary SD loaf.
Also made a disaster and mess with vanilla slice cooked in mini pie maker.  The recipe was instant pudding mixed with cream and milk.  What a waste of good ingredients.  They won’t be wasted when covered with plum jam and cream. For the GC.

It's coming into soup weather , so will have look for the recipe Katie - Which book is it out of?
Chookie, is the recipe for your lamb and barley soup on the forum?

I had a Uni moment today - was up very early, had sultanas soaking and made Cookie's decadent chocolate biscuits. it was from Cookies recipes that she gave us at forum fest W.A. Was that 2012?

That flathead is enormous Mich. They don't grow anywhere near that big over here.

I made some Quarantine Cookies yesterday. I will pop the link and picture up when I get back onto my ipad. They are very nice.
