Made a batch of shortbread yesterday, mostly gone now.

I have a Classic loaf rising at the moment and a rye SD to go into the fridge. It will be bread for next week while we are away. I need to make some biscuits but haven't decided what sort yet.

Nice rolls Chookie.

Today I have made a zucchini slice, caramalized onion roast pumpkin & spinach quiche, 2 trifles and a sponge. Also prepared some fruit for a fruit salad.  I still have a salad to prepare .  These are all for DH's birthday lunch tomorrow.

Mab and Chookie you have both been busy. I made some of Chookie's best choc chip cookies yesterday. Today I cooked my rye SD loaf and I'm just waiting to pop my Rustic Wholemeal loaf into the oven.

Cookie, that loaf looks absolutely delicious. I like your comment about the TMX making it simple.  I found the same with the buns I made.
Mab, Happy Birthday to your DH.  You are certainly cooking up a storm. Have fun.
Our Melbourne family are coming for lunch, so DD and family have decided to catch up also.  It’s looking like an early Xmas lunch.

Mab delicious food you have made .
Chookie enjoy the family together.
Made two 700 mil bottles of bone broth , simmered for 8 1/2 hours ! It’s not clear in fact quiet brown but so flavoursome. Just beef bones chicken legs celery carrots parsley and bay leaf , no onions or garlic.

Beautiful loaf and rolls, I love how you girls can get that lovely crust.  I have never really been able to do that so I took a chance and bought an artisan bread maker and yes it actually works.  So crusty and it stays that way, doesn't soften as it cools.

So far I've only made the normal white one and the fruit bread.  I will try the various combos over time but if I just made those 2 I would still be happy. Nicer than anything I've ever been able to make, though I'm just starting to get into sourdough and have successfully made 2 loaves so far (by hand) that both DH and I have enjoyed.  They have successfully been frozen and defrosted in slices and still taste great, am so surprised.

Sometimes I wish the family were all here so these things would be gone through a lot quicker, it's hard when there's only 2 of us and we don't eat a lot of bread but I want it to be top notch when we do.  ;D

K ATIE, that broth sounds very nice.  How will you use it ?
Julie, is that a bread machine. ?  I agree, life is too short to eat poor quality bread.
