Maddy, I know how you feel, I always think if I licked I could taste the food. ??? :-)) :-))
Today is more icecream, may make it cookies and cream this time. Bread and the cookie barrel is empty too. It is going to be 36 today so I should get working before the heat sets in. DH mowed the lawn at 7.10am this morning before he went to work. I don't think the neighbours were too happy, she likes to sleep in until 9 or 10. :'(
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I'm going to try Chookie's creamy asparagus soup for dinner (as well as some steak and veges) - I got 2kg of fresh, organic asparagus in my vege box this week! yum  ;D

I have just steamed Turkey Legs in the Varoma - took 1 hour for 1.2kg, wraped them in foi lto rest
Whileresting  I cooked a cranberry sauce -
1 cup dried cranberries, 50g  pastachios, 50g sugar (I used palm) 50g water heat for 10 mins on 90deg then a quick zap at the end.  Yummy
Next time I am going to bone the legs and fill with the berries and pistachios.

I'm still finding my feet but I did cheese sauce today to go with pasta for the children.  Without Thelma I usually make a load of cheese sauce at a time as my kids love it and making it is such a faff, whisk, watch, add milk, whisk.  It was definitely easy peasy in Thelma

In a fit of boredom this evening I made bread.  Just grabbed the recipe from the book that came with Thelma.  It looks good, has a nice texture, rose well but the taste is quite bland.  I only did one rise and in future I'd definitely do two.  Making bread quickly obviously has its advantages but tasty bread needs some "sitting" time.

Yesterday I made some cookies, Chinese Pepper steak and some of Helene's bread. All very tasty. Tonight I'm doing quiche with the cream cheese pastry and all the blitzing and pre cooking etc in the TMX. Oh last night was also the mushrooms in bechemal sauce-very nice.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

There's a lovely smell in the house as I've just finished baking JulieO's Apricot Slice. Yummo :D :D :D
I'm sitting down while bub is asleep now but will make the custard to go with it later, and whip up some cream for those of us who don't like custard, to take to my mum's for dinner tonight.

I've been making sausage rolls - first the rough puff pastry (with spelt flour), then a spicy chicken & vege filling, with lots of veges and some tikka paste to flavour it!  Cooking now, and smelling good...

Made a discovery today,  the quality/ nature of the Malt in the Malt Biscuits makes a world of difference.   I have been using Barley malt and it has a beautiful malt flavor.  DIL made the biscuits using powdered malt used for brewing,  mixed equal amounts malt and water.   Not a patch on the real thing.  So today made malt biscuits,  a loaf of 'no fuss' bread with added LSA.   Then Cantucci (double cooked  Hazelnut  biscuits).   These were a great success and I will be giving them for Xmas.   This lot are for BIL for his Birthday.   Hope he dips them in his coffee and doesn't break his teeth. ;D ;D ;D.   I'll post the recipe as they are easy ,   makes a lot and are nice.
