Yesterday I cooked a batch of burnt-fig jam - made with a strong brew of Lapsang Souchong tea for that smoky flavor - this jam is to serve with cheese.

Today I'm baking off some more "ice-box" cookies, more peanut butter cookies and some little date-nut spice cakes.  The latter is a very old recipe I have not prepared for years but I have a large box of dates gifted to me and I want to use some of them up.  Dates have a bit too much sugar for me to consume very many so I want to use them in some of the baked goods I'm giving away.

Also potato soup later today - going to try and convert my favorite to the TMX.

Going to make Rudoph - I think that they have already been mentioned in a previous post - found here

.....and santa hat brownies but I am using the mini christmas pudding posted by Cookie, instead of brownies and put in mini muffin trays. Still deciding whether to use white choc instead of mascarpone butter cream!

We have a couple of Christmas get togethers this week as well as the baking for DD for pharmacy opening.  Will post picks rather than plagerise!!!!!!!!

Johnro, those little santa hats look so cute. Might have to have a go at making them myself.

Well you are going to be busy. Are all of the dogs sitting at the door watching you cook? Showed the kids the pictures of Bentley and guess what's now on their Christmas lists!!

I didn't get as much done in the kitchen today as I had planned.

The news people have been throwing dire warnings about the storm coming in, with threats of heavy rain and snow to fairly low elevations, possibly here.  I still have a few things to bake and I am running low on a few supplies.
So today I went out to run a few errands and I don't want to be out driving in bad weather.  Fortunately most of the places are open on Sunday and for once, not very crowded so I got my shopping done more rapidly than usual.

Later this week I have to have my van checked before making the long drive up to the Bay area so I have to work my cooking around that necessary task.   Hopefully the bad weather will be long gone by then.

Johnro, I love those santa hat brownies. I'm assuming they are pretty easy to make? We have a basketball team break up on Sunday and I'm sure the kids would love them. Do you think I could make them Saturday night and leave in the fridge or better off putting together on Sunday morning?

Robyn, you could use Creamy Vanilla Frosting for the santa hat brownies couldn't you - that is quite a firm mixture.

Judy I thought that the frosting may be a little too sweet (did I just say that at this time of year after all the fudge and rocky road that has left this house - yes I DID state left the house and not in my mouth!!!!!) - perhaps the white choc or mascarpone buttercream is a more suitable combo with the mini chris pudd!!!!  :)  :)

Twitterpated our household is now back to a sole dog and the relief on Shelby's face is visible!!!!!!  :D  :D

I am going to make the bottoms (mini christmas puddings) on Christmas Eve, then top with whipped cream and strawberries just before serving Christmas Day.

DG  I am not sure :-\ that whipped cream will hold as the pom-pom on the top of the strawberry  :)  :)
