I tried varoma bread today, but made it into raisin bread (well, sultana bread... didn't have raisins  :D) I haven't cut it or tasted it yet, so we'll see how we go. I'll probably make mashed potato tonight.

Question: If you make mashed potato (TM recipe book says cook 1kg of potatoes for 20min on 100deg) and I wanted to steam veges in the varoma, could I do both at the same time?

i think so but they might take longer.

i'm going to do mash tonight, but dh doesn't like them the way they turn out in the book so i use less milk and mash them less too.

You certainly can do both - but the veg would need to be cut smaller, or start with water in base and then add potatoes to cook later.  I often steam veg in Varoma while cooking in TM bowl.

Last night I made Gnocchi with a tuna / white bean / yogurt sauce / sweetcorn sauce (spot the 'using up leftovers' night  ;) )  Also whizzed up a quick crumble topping and made gooseberry and apple crumble in the Remoska while we ate.  I also experimented with juicing (which I hadn't tried before), and made a mixed citrus squash - followed, of course, by Mixed Citrus Fruit Spread  ;D

Tonight I think that I'm going to make the Thai Fishcakes from the seafood book.  I've already got a bottle of sweet chilli sauce in the fridge which I made last week.  If I can find the time and energy I'll make some biscuits (cookies) or cake for the snack tin.
As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

Last night I made some custard/creme patisserie for a vanilla slice - instant love from my 15 year old son!
41C here again today so I might just make some of the rice bubble slice for the lunch boxes - back to school tomorrow.

Another vile stinker here today!!
I'm just not sure how much more of this 40C+ weather I can handle - especially if it doesn't cool down at night.  We live in the hills and have no air-con so rely on the cool nights to get us through.
Far to hot to cook or eat much - have just made another batch of Carolines cordial.

Must seem weird to you guys that you're sweltering, and I'm making all these hearty meals.  Well....  icy day today, and more snow coming tomorrow.  Made the barley risotto tonight, with some sous-vide shortribs :)  Turned out wonderful !

I have the Salted Caramel Maple Icecream in the freezer at the moment getting ready for its second beat up in the Thermomix. It tasted rather good before I put it in there. I actually cooked the custard for an extra 2 minutes as it hadn't thickened at all. Possibly due to the fact that all the ingredients came directly out of the fridge. It's too hot to leave things out.
I'm looking forward to beating it up again so I can have another little taste.  I'm not going to put the chocolate into it this time.

I have only made this once and it was fantastic, but I had to cook it a little longer to get it to thicken up, too.

Today was bread, sweet chilli sauce and a stir fry.  Spanish Rice pudding for dessert (delicious).  I'm going to be without an internet connection for the next 2-3 weeks, so you wont be hearing much from me.  Guess it'll give me more time to experiment with the TM  ;D

I've just given the Salted Caramel Maple icecream its second blending and the family are lucky there was any left to return to the freezer. It is so nice. Glad to read that you had to cook it a little longer too Amanda.
This will be made again and again.

38C here today - again. :(
I made some hommous last night and, as it was cooler this morning, made another batch of Fudgy Wudgies before it got too hot.  Now at least we have something to look forward to!
