Glad he's feeling better Amanda.  Must really be terrible to be sick in that heat!

Ditto - may be better in hospital with the heat?  But then again, hospitals seem to be the place where people catch nasties.

Glad he's feeling better Amanda.  Must really be terrible to be sick in that heat!

He was better off than the rest of us in the heat!!  We have no air-con at home.
He is back home this afternoon.  Dr. has no idea why a healthy, strong 15 year old boy succumbed so quickly and so completley to a bacterial infection, but says it just happens sometimes.
If it occurs again he will be investigating even more thoroughly.
Thanks for all your good wishes, everybody! :)

Alina0210, I love Singapore.  There are so many different types of food to try.  Do enjoy yourself.
We're off "down south" on Monday for a week or so in the van.  Hopefully it will be cool down there as we're in for some heat early next week. Not as bad as Adelaide and Melbourne though, Canberra too, I see it's been 37 there for a couple of days.

Amanda; very pleased to read that your son is home.  I hope he continues to improve.

I've just read that it was 46.? degrees in Melbourne today and Adelaide was 37 at 9am. You poor things.  I really feel for you. My brother in CAnberra said it had been 39 there and was to be 40 today.  I thought the west was supposed to be hot but the east is leaving us for dead ( oops, perhaps I should have said leaving us behind!)

I'm thinking of you all melting over there. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(Lots of perspiration-not tears.

was warm here today and i can't even begin to imagine what victoria was like, though they have a cold change through now.

well today i made more gazpacho (had a bit much in there and it was leaking so didn't mix nearly as long as i was supposed to, it's separating a bit already but tastes fine ;))

other than that just used it to mash some butter beans to make these potato, sweet potato fritters (wanted the beans to keep it together as i can't eat eggs atm)

The cool change is in, her, although I worry for all the Victorians.
I have made Spinach Pizza scrolls (by rolling up and cutting before baking), Cheeseymite scrolls and those dastardly Fudgy Wudgies - again - all for the kids lunch boxes, although I think that those cookies are going to get me into serious trouble waist-wise!! :o
When cutting the scrolls before baking, I find it easiest to use a piece of thread (ordinary sewing cotton) which I slide under the rolled log and pull together, crossing over on top to cut through the dough.  Not so squashy.

i just can't believe what has happened in victoria, last night i thought to myself it couldn't possibly get as bad as the canberra fires, but how wrong i was :( :(

today i went to the thermomix cooking class, it was great! loved cyndi o'meara and could listen to her all day :) the cooking was good too but i was VERY (VERY VERY) disappointed that there was only 1 new recipe, we didn't get given ANY of the recipes (one should be on the blog soon). and of course because of my detox i only got to try 2 of them lol

tonight i made these http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2007/06/baked-spinach-kofta-with-cucumber.html and there were sooooooo yummy! the whole lot went and the kids went back for seconds even though they were green ;) will try to write up a conversion later but it will be a rough job...

Made red pepper and tomato soup in the  *: , while I steamed couscous and fish in the varoma above.  Very nice - a hit with the family.

Tonight's dinner was salmon pasta, which I found on the German site.  It was lovely and a big hit with the family, although personally I'd add a little white wine to the sauce next time.  My DD says no - leave it as it is.  She thinks it's perfect. I've posted the recipe on the seafood and fish thread.

Forgot to say that I also made Beetroot and coriander salad, and garlic and herb dip.  Yum.
