Horrible, horrible hot again today.
Very boring with all 5 of us stuck in the house hiding from the sun.  Wretched off-spring getting niggly.
Have just made Salted Maple Caramel Icecream custard and put in the fridge to chill before I put it in the icecream machine!

Amanda I really feel for you.  Our aircon is working overtime!!!!  I have been visiting my Mum in Port Pirie and had to endure a three hour bus trip home on Friday in no airconditioning as the bus driver didn't feel the need to put it on - there was also no water in the water cooler.  When we arrived at the Adelaide depot we all looked and felt like we had been to hell and back again!!!

I would have led a mutiny on the bus Trudy, how dare he not consider his passengers  :o :o  Bet it is nice to be home, even if the a/c is working overtime you only need to go outside and come back in to appreciate the difference in temperatures.  I could have a nana nap right now after a big lunch. DH and I are both on our computers in different rooms, no getting on each others nerves in this house.

It's so cool and breezy here today I've been wearing long sleeves until after lunch!  (We are up in the mountains though, west of Cairns.)  We had a lovely roast dinner for lunch, and I'm off to make some apple berry custard crumble (http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com/2008/12/this-is-one-of-my-familys-most.html) - keep meaning to write my TMX version down and get a photo of it on my blog, so that's today's project.  Plus I need to make spelt scones, which we'll have for dinner with the leftover gravy, meat and veges on top.  ;D

I'm thinking of you S.Aussies and Victorians. Amanda, it must be dreadful without air con.
We had a lovely sea breeze yesterday and again today.

Yesterday I made Isi's Easy Bread (fantastic), Mrs Duck's Chicken Curry, and Isi's Coffee Cream.
Today we spent a few hours in the garden till about 10.30 and made Jo's Chocolate Milk-free Milkshake to cool us down again.  Fabulous, even though we're big milk lovers.
This afternoon I've got a Chicken and Spinach lasagna in the oven, almost ready for early dinner.

Well, it all seems like a good green idea to go without air-con, but I'm not entirely sure how much longer we will last before we give in.  And knowing my husband - he will go the whole hog and want fully ducted reverse cycle! :-))

None of which would have helped today when the power went off for 3 hours and we didn't even have the ceiling fans!  >:(
We piled into the airconditioned car and went for a drive and then came home for a swim in the pool!

Great idea Amanda, you had to do something or you would have ended up killing each other  ;) ;)  The whole hog is the way to go with the a/c too - quick and easy way to heat up the house, especially in the hills where you live and lovely on days like today. Don't know what we would do with no power - DH would go into meltdown so I hate to even think about it.

Sorry to all those in the heat wave :-*

Today we made porridge, ice coffee, bread, Chicken in Yoghurt and Rice, maybe custard for desert :)

I agree that a section for such "small" things is needed.  Condiments, dressings, marinades, syrups, gravies, etc.

I've been working on converting my mushroom ketchup, sugar-free ketchup and banana ketchup recipes to the TMX, as well as my mustard recipe and sambal badjak.  (I prefer the latter over the other sambals because it has a more complex flavor.)

I have been wondering where to post them because these don't seem to fit into any of the other sections.
