Thanks Thermomixer, we're home. Arrived Tuesday afternoon to find that DD has swine flu. Thank goodness she's had the injection as she is one unhappy girl.  Got TMX to work quick making her some soups.
I have finished unpacking and washing and now want to get in and get some staples, like bread, made.  Not to mention getting back on the forum regularly.

I can't believe how lovely and big the words are on this screen compared to the netbook I was using. Much better for the eyes.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Glad you are back Cookie, missed you.  Sorry to hear about DD, she will come good now that Mum is home to look after her.

Today I made chicken & vegie soup for lunch then chicken & leek pie for tea.

Sorry to hear that cookie..  I didn't realise that swine flu is still hanging around. I guess it'll crank up again as the weather cools.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

I went to U.K. Thermomix to pick up a lid seal and was invited by John and Janie to join in the demo that Janie was doing today.
It included the basics but a few recipes new to me.I thought I would share them with you and will post them.

Welcome back, Cookie! Hope DD is feeling better.
Made a yummy bbq sauce yesterday - my own invention, combining lots of ingredients from other recipes... when it worked out so nicely I thought I'd better write it down, so I'll post that today.
Made some buckwheat banana fritters for breaky, and now off to make a version of Cyndi's GF bread, and some sprouted buckwheat-apricot treat balls... I'm minding 3 coeliac kids, so it's all gluten free cooking today.

Thanks for the link judydawn, packet pastas are a whole food group to my hubs, so I will definitely try that out. And unfortunately, no, he does not like my homecooked biscuits, mine are usually too healthy for him.
And cookie, hope your daughter is better soon and doesn't pass it on to you.

Hi all, this is my first time posting in this thread.In the last few days I have made the golden fish curry from the calendar, carrot cake (3 times!) from here, laksa, satay sauce, icecream, too many things to mention.
But the thing that made me love my TMx the most was tonight when I came home at 5pm from shopping with 4 grumpy, hungry kids. (ages 1, 1, 3 and 5). I used a flavoured rice packet, broccoli and cauliflower florets, and zapped some bacon and egg in the micorwave. At the last minute I added baby spinach leaves. When it was cooked I added the chopped bacon and eggs and there you go, the fakest, easiest most un-Masterchef fried rice. Whilst it was definitely not gourmet, it was cooked in less than 10 minutes, and all 4 of my kids ate it and loved it.
And whilst it stirred itself I got the shopping in from the car and put away.  And that is why I love my Thermomix.

Kim, give yourself some credit - you didn't do the drive through thing.  I count 3 vegies, real bacon and eggs in what you served, you saved lot's of money, and both you and the kids are happy.  Well done!
It can take a while to train the DH, but keep at it.  Mine reads labels these days, and now if he wants to buy the kids a treat when they're out, he chooses a healthy muesli or nut bar instead of a freddo frog.  That's a big improvement.

Thanks for all the well wishes for DD. She said it was hilarious when she went back to the GP (3rd time in 5 days) he put a mask on. I guess she possibly picked it up from work.
Judy will be making her some of your chicken and vegie soup. She has just finished a batch of Maddy's bacon and vegie soup.

If you are looking for an excellent tart pastry try this it came together beautifully!!
I served the tart with TMX potatoes in a TMX mustard mayo and bread. Yum!  ;)

Last night for dinner we had Spicy Beef and Corn Scone Cobbler from the meat book. We loved it. Next time I'll halve the recipe as there is lots of left overs.
