Poor ma-in-law! Maybe she did it on purpose so you wouldn't go away  ;D ;D - no only joking!!  Glad you have that book, now you can try lots of things for the rest of us (here's hoping you do catch plenty of fish) and post your reviews when you get back. If you are going to keep travelling like this Cookie1, you will have to get yourself a lap-top like Thermomixer.  Good luck with your departure date.

Cookie1, Poor ma-i-l - I had to laugh at JD's comment - just bought the full set of Mother & Son DVDs and that is just what Ruth Cracknell used to do !!!! - There was a time Gary McD was going on hols to NZ with a potential girlfriend - until mum found out !!!!!

Polenta is cornmeal, and it's normally tedious to cook as you have to stir it forever.  This time, 30 minutes in the TMX and it was perfect

i have polenta for breakfast every morning - polenta, a banana and milk, 7 mins, 90's dpeed 4. yum!

For new players, there are 2 types of polenta - the old which can take an hour to cook, and the "Instant"

Check out http://uktv.co.uk/food/ingredient/aid/508810 and http://www.polentamoretti.com/eng/images/moretti_sottov_lampo.pdf this is the ready cooked - if you look at their website - in Flash so can't get to the exact page - Products - Vacuum packed - click on Bramata and Lampo to see the difference.

Bit like a coconut macaroony type thing? Anyone help with the name maybe? ??? ??? ??? Take 5 mins in Thx and 15 mins in oven.

Bron, why don't you do a recipe book.  You are such a great cook and I would be first in line to buy one ;) ;) Can you post your recipe for those lovely looking macaroons please.

Ma-in laws doing silly things isn't that far from the truth. We had dear friends who were flying to USA. They had a stop in Hawaii where they received a message saying "your mother is very ill, can you return asap". They did this and rushed into the hospital where they found her sitting up in bed. She said "I felt so much better when I heard you were coming home!"
I've known a couple of poor old oldies do that, even my own Mum to a certain extent.  She used to say "just pretend you are away dear, take the phone off the hook and no-one will ever know!"
You just gotta luv 'em.

Judy, we hope to leave on Tuesday now. We have a family meeting with all the social workers etc as they really want to put her into some form of care as she really can't take care of herself; in many ways. Sadly she is fighting tooth and nail against it. We've been told that they can force her as she is really unsafe on her own. Hopefully it won't come to that. She already hates me and DH as 2 years ago they wanted to put her in care but we spent 2 weeks clearing and cleaning her home.  It was a revolting job, the rubbish was over a metre deep on all the floors all through the house. I even learnt not to scream too loud when rats ran over my feet.  We filled 9 enormous skip bins with rubbish. She is like those ladies you see on TV with junk and rubbish everywhere.

Hopefully when we're old Judy we will be aware of the impact on the family of us aging. Both my Mum (who thankfully knew she needed to go into care) and Ma-in-law never had any contact with elderly people after about 20 years of age so they possibly aren't aware.

What a problem you have Cookie1 - hope it gets sorted out and you can enjoy a nice, peaceful holiday. You are a trooper for doing what you did 2 years ago - pity it wasn't appreciated.

Am making dishwasher soap today. One for my Mum to take home, and one for my mother in law as a little present, as we are going to see her tomorrow. All in a nice jar with ribbons. Have any of you made this eco soap for dishwasher? Makes one litre. Very very cheap, reckon it costs 50 cents per litre!

Is it suitable for use in any type of dishwasher Bron?  Post it anyway, I'm sure it will suit some.  Mine uses powder but doesn't recommend using those tablets.
