Welcome Annie Frangipani. It's ok to take it slowly and build your confidence. There are plenty of fantastic recipes on here that are well presented and in logical order of procedure. The biggest problem is choosing which ones to do.
have fun

Totally agree with VHJ. We have had our TM just over 12 months and when I had 5 mins up my sleeve I said very quickly to DH thT I just going to duck into the shower. And he wanted to then know how to turn it off "as he always had trouble"...yeah right! Just turn this dial and I'm having my shower right now
overcome any hesitancy with positivity and you will find cooking is a joy with you TM

Hi Annie welcome to the forum. It can be a bit daunting at first but if I can master it, anyone can. I have always loved to cook and try different things but I was scared stiff of this little, noisy machine when I first got it. Hardly did anything in it and was disappointed with most things I tried UNTIL I FOUND THIS FORUM - the encouragement and friendliness you will find here is worth all the cookbooks in China. The recipes are superb, the forum gives you a darn good laugh at times and any questions, well just ask and someone will answer you. You will love it here and in turn love your TMX as well. Obsessed, addicted - just 2 words that will describe you in no time at all.

Everyone is correct. This forum is the best way to learn all about your new baby. Read, read, read and you'll soon be well prepared and confident.

Thanks for all the lovely welcomes and encouragements - tonight "we" - joint effort with hubby reading and me doing - made Chilli Con Carne... Lovely flavour but a bit watery?
? Any suggestions why?
I would have preferred to cook it a little more and maybe without the little lid thing in place - would that have made a differnece to the water content?
I know when I cook in a saucepan and I want something to thicken up a bit I leave the lid off for a while..........

I haven't done that recipe annie but yes, I often take the MC off to allow evaporation of liquids. I notice the recipe also says if you want a thicker consistency you can add up to 600gms of meat. Maybe, if not using more meat, drain the can of tomatoes - save the liquid and only add if needed. I have found many recipes are too liquidy for me so I just thicken with a cornflour/water mixture.

Welcome Annie F. Great to have you on board. Don't worry, it is a whole new machine and we are all learning, slowly.
Haven't done the Chili con Carne, but find that I often put in less liquid and then add if it seems to be drying. Did you use
canned beans with the liquid
?

Welcome AnnieF. What a lovely username. I'm sure you will love your TMX as much as the rest of us and quite possibly become addicted to this forum as many of us have done. It is so useful for recipes and general discussion and help with the machine.
