My DIL recently started querying me about an extraordinary blender/cooker I had way back in the 70's when my son was about 5 years old.  Between us we worked out it was a Thermomix - and need I say more -she had the research mode going full bore and in less than a month since raising the subject she has joined the TMX Forum (Versace Yo Yo) , had a demo, bought a machine and convinced me to do the same - I did not take much pushing.  Can hardly wait till Sunday when I have my own demo and will own my very new Thermomix.  Compared with the original model this one is like a Ferrari compared to a Mini Minor - but can't knock my old model it did a mighty job making perfect custards for my two fussy eater sons and wonderful sauces and soups for my husband and myself.  As a lucky MIL with a very cluey DIL I felt Mil was a pretty appropriate user name for this wonderful forum site and look forward to benefiting from all the experience floating about out there in cyberspace - No longer green with envy, Mil.

Last Christmas we had 3  at my place (DD2 & DD3 brought their machines with them)and it was terrific fun and made the Christmas meal very easy We had a five course meal and it was no trouble at all with all contributing and the TMX's going full bore...... loads of fun You should have loads of fun together.

not only interesting there might have been some great recipes that could have been converted to the TM31

Welcome MIL!  We were really interested to hear about you owning the original model - so where did you get it from?  Did you order it from Germany?  How did you hear about it?  It's still so new in Australia really, so it's fascinating to hear about someone having one years ago.  I had the 80's model, and was so impressed with the new one when I got it, it seemed sooo much better and I use it lots more than I did the old one... so I imagine you must be blown away by the new one compared to the original model!!  Very 'space age' isn't it!  Have lots of fun, hope it gets there soon!

Not long to go till I get my hands onto this new piece of magic - will definitely be making bread (ingredients for several varieties already purchased), yoghurt is also high on the list and as I read through this forum I am suffering overload of ideas. My original TMX was purchased though a party given by a mother from the kids' school in Sydney - unfortunately in the days pre-internet and WWW it was all but impossible to replace the seal on the machine when it deteriorated after about ten years - despite efforts to track one down even through the German embassy.  The old cookbook was discarded only about 12 months ago - kicking myself now - and the TMX insulated jug (white and orange) only met its demise when we moved house two years ago and it was in a carton that went to heaven.  All behind me now - roll out the old - roll in the new.  Versaceyoyo is flooding me with taste testing and we will both be either buying a size larger or joining Weight Watchers.  Thanks for the welcomes, Mil

PS - This has really changed the TMX history in Australia story for me!! Thought it had only been in Aust since 2002!

My consultant told me they only sold somewhere between 20 - 30 of that old model and then Vorwerk pulled out of Australia due to disappointing sales - how times have changed!
