YAY!!! I am now a thermomix Owner!!!
« on: March 23, 2010, 04:30:01 am »
Hi all!

Just wanted to introduce myself.  My name is Trish from Adelaide SA and it's been a long wait but today I finally received my very own Thermomix!  Thanks to my wonderful mum who has helped me afford it.  Both my sister, mum and a group of her friends all have their own and I have been to many thermomix cooking demo's always drooling and wishing I had one.  Today my dreams have come true!!!
My husband (A Chef) has always grumbled about such an appliance.  (Typical chef likes his old school methods in the kitchen)  Well I will SHOW Him.....hehehhee  I bet he won't complain when meals are served in front of him each and every day/night.  Anyway I do ALL the cooking at home!  Somewhere I got ripped off being married to a chef and all!
But my gosh the question is.....What is the first thing I should make????  Soooo many things I want to try!!!
Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing recipes.
Wish me luck!!  ;)

Welcome to the forum Trish.

Gosh I wouldn't know what to serve to a chef.  Perhaps a risotto?  Something that is time-consuming to prepare without a TMX would be good. :)

well I always say the vege concentrate as that is a stock, and used in so many of the recipes. dead easy to knock up and very satisfying to have on hand. You'll have time to make something else then!

Thanks guys!!
Hubby wont read this but I'll show him up in the kitchen with my Thermomix now anyway!!   ;D
Def will do the veg stock concentrate.  It's the base to many recipes I have heard.
I always do make rissotto's the old fashion LONG way so can't wait to do it in the TM.
Would love to try bread or hot cross buns.

Welcome Twicket.  The best thing to do is either zabaglione or creme patisserie.  They are something that normally involves lots of stirring.  You could whip up a zabaglione for dessert while sitting eating the main.

Thank you!!

I have just made my first batch of Hot Cross Buns.  I did make a few changes however.  I left out the citrus peel as not a fan and added Choc chips instead of the raisins.  Just to make it more healthy!!!!!!  Ok so now I have to wait an hour for it to rise b4 I continue and get them into the oven.  Will let you all know how I go and will try and take a pic.  Fingers crossed they turn out.  What normally would take half an hour or more took me less than 10 minutes.....AMAZING!!!

Welcome Twicket,  I have a friend  married to a chef.  He wasn't keen on the TMX to start with,  but then he didn't do the cooking at home either.  Risotto was what won him over.  Hope you have fun,  and for bread,  you can't go past isi's recipes.

Good on you Trish!  The buns look fantastic.

Funnily enough I just started another thread today about the view that using a TMX in the kitchen is cheating! you can read it here -http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=3259.0

Well done Trish.  I might do my next lot with choc chips too - very Eastery, chocolate and hot cross buns. Did you still put some fruit in them or just the choc chips?

Well done Trish. There are quite a lot of risotto recipes on the forum. I rather like Kathryn's Pumpkin and Feta one.
