Woohoo! We're back
« on: April 10, 2010, 10:23:57 pm »
Yeah the forum is back up. Wouldn't you know it, it goes down on the day our Bimby arrives. I've had to wait a whole sleep to tell everyone!

I wonder should we madly copy all the forum recipes? :)

I've been wondering a similar thing!  Congratulations on the arrival of your Bimby.  Have fun with all the recipes here, now that they're back!!!

I had a day of panic that a) I'd lost touch with everyone and b) the recipes were gone!!!  It was at that point that I realised I had absolutely no way of getting back in touch and finding folk if the site didn't come back up.  Does anyone have an idea for an alternative meeting point if anything ever goes more permanently wrong?
As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

The Yahoo group is a secondary place. It's not really active, but a good backup. I contacted Thermomixer through his blog :)

Now that the Bimby is here, and we're starting to convert recipes, I might actually (in my MANY spare hours - not) start putting recipies into Living Cookbook (recipe software), which I bought years ago but haven't used much.

Russell.

Congrats Russell on your new toy??? What did you cook first?

I went onto the facebook thermomix in Melbourne, hoping that some others from this forum were on there.

Well I was floating around a few places, the FB Melbourne was one as well as this one

there was a couple of us floating on that one as well. I know I am on a couple of other FB pages too  :o :o

I think maybe the old yahoo users group could be a great back up disaster plan. I think I still remember my password lol  ;D ;D

Phew,

Well just about to pack up for the night. been a busy day, and my memory is a bit fuzzy. I'll try and recall (not in order). One thing I do know is, everything we made is FAILSAFE, so we're off to a good start.

1 & 2. Sorbet x 2 (1 with ice, 1 with milk)
3. Shortbread biscuits
4 & 5. Muesli Slice x 2 (one for me for work, one for the kids :) )
6. Luigi's 40 sec biscuits (sub. cashews for almonds, yum!)
7. Anzac biscuits (oops, bit runny & a little burnt)
8. Mashed Potato
9. Mock Nutella (i.e. Cashew & Carob butter)
10. Vegetable muffins
11. Chicken Stock
12. Howards Bean Paste

I think that's it, but something else may have slipped in while I wasn't looking  ;)

And that's the end of the fun for me until Friday now :(

Russell.

Poor Russell! I was having withdrawal symptoms, but you must have been really feeling the loss of the forum!
At least you had more time to cook!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

I didn't find it so hard to cope with this time as the first time it happened when I was new.  Cooked all day Saturday and actually was in bed with the light out at 10pm instead of midnight or 1am which is the norm as I never go to bed until I have read all the day's postings on the forum. Today we went out all day and have not long got in - what time did it come back on?  It pays to print out those recipes you intend doing.
