Recipe review - Cheese and basil knots - UK TMX site
« on: April 13, 2010, 11:48:09 am »
Recipe Name:  Cheese and basil knots
Book Name:  http://www.ukthermomix.com/recshow.php?rec_id=7
Tweaking details:  none
Review:  Great recipe
Score: (out of 5*)
5/5

The recipe made a lovely dough - perfect consistency.  When they didn't rise much I was a little concerned but they turned out beautifully and I would recommend these rolls as a great lunch accompaniment.

Thanks versaceyoyo, I haven't been on that site for a while.  Will try these for my next batch of rolls - my basil is going mad.

This is my favourite show-off bread recipe - always works perfectly and eaten hot is to die for!

Thanks VYY and I'll see what can be done to combine the threads.

Second thoughts - best to leave your post over in the bread thread?  so people can see it when looking for bread, but I'll put a link there to this review too.

sorry I did try and do a search first to see if it had been mentioned previously and didn't find it.

My basil is like your Judy, going crazy. I've made heaps of pesto and it just won't stop growing. I trimmed it right back and that made it grwo even more.
I've started a new theory, when I need a herb I don't have I go and buy it at the nursery instead of paying the same price for it fresh at Woolies. So far it's going well and works out cheaper in the long run. I usually only have basil and parsley growing.

No problems - we want the reviews here - so it should be here and we can link to JulieO's thread.  All's cool.

my basil is still going nuts as well, and it really should be finished by now, shouldn't it??  it is much cheaper to grow your own herbs not to mention cuts down on waste.

Loved these. Mine rose ever so much and were rather large. It meant we only had 1 each instead of two. I did take a photo and will post it asap.

As promised a photo.

These seem to have photographed very yellow, perhaps it was the background.

I made these yesterday and we really loved them too.  I left mine to rise for about an hour and a half in a slightly warm oven and they were a good size by then.  I then put them on a sunny window sill while the oven warmed.  Yummo!!!

CP I didn't think I would be making much bread either but it's the most enjoyable thing to make! so very satisfying to produce this stuff myself.
