Quiche filling ideas anyone?
« on: May 18, 2010, 01:03:35 am »
I've just started getting into making quiches in my Thermie (with pastry made from scratch of course) does anyone have any ideas for fillings besides the usual lorraine?

Thank you

My favorite is steamed broccoli, steamed big chunks of onion, sauteed mushrooms and sharp cheddar.

My fav is roasted pumpkin, fetta and basil. May be some roasted red onion in there too.

I once  made a breakfast quiche buy adding a can of baked beans. The men travelling with my husband to work with my husband that day did not appreciate it!

Is that another man thing Gretchen - they don't like baked beans as well as quiche :-)) :-))  If we are having a quick open a can meal and he gets a choice DH will choose spaghetti over baked beans every time.

It was more about

Beans beans the musical fruit. The more you eat the more you toot. The more you toot the better you feel. Eat beans at ever meal.

LOL! ;D ;D

I used to make quiche a lot, but not so much now since I can't have cheese, and it's just not quite the same without it  :-\
But here's some ideas from my blog for quiche fillings - I love this recipe as it's so easy to vary according to what's in the fridge!

I tend to put almost anything into my quiches. If it is a vegetable I'll cook it before hand and if not I just put it in. I sometimes use leftovers and put a quiche around it.
It's so lovely being able to make the pastry in the TMX.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.
