Don't mess around with my Thermomix!
« on: May 19, 2010, 02:11:04 am »
I just had to share this with you all.  DD1 and I were listening to the Bob the Builder album, and one of the songs is a line dance.  Wendy is singing, "I'm a blonde haired girl in a hard hat, don't try to make a monkey out of me".  Basically, she's saying all the things that Bob can do if he wants to dance with her, but he can't mess around with her machinery, one example of which is "But don't you mess with my cement mix'.

Later that evening I heard DD1 heartily singing, "I'm a blonde haired girl in a hard hat .... but don't you mess with my Thermomix!"   ;D ;D  That's my girl!!!  ;) :D
As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

How lovely Caroline. A very modern young lady.

Chookie I would indeed hide the lid to your TMX. I'm still having trouble with mine. DH decided to fix it again yesterday and then I couldn't close it. I told him I preferred water to leak out when I was washing it than not being able to close it.
When I get home I might buy a second bowl and use this one as a second one. :'(

Cookie1, if water's leaking out, have you tried changing the seal?  My seal lasted a little less than a year - as soon as water starts leaking out, you need to change it.

I think my kids are totally Thermomix brainwashed too - my 8 yr old loves making lego houses, and each room is very detailed - the best room is the kitchen, which of course contains a Thermomix!!  I'll have to post a photo, it's so cute!  I hear them playing their make-believe games, and they're saying, "And pretend I was going to a Thermomix demo..."  So funny!  :D

Thanks. Yes I do plan on getting a new seal before the big outlay on the bowl. The seal could have been damaged eitheer when DD dropped the bowl or DH has been trying to fix it. Possibly even me using it. (probably was)

That is priceless Caroline  :D :D :D

DD here is often heading off and doing a "fermomix demo" too.

I'm about to replace my seals too, it's been nearly 2 years for the original and 18 months for the second set. They're leaking water pretty much everytime now too.

Caroline, that's a gorgeous story! I love what kids come out with!

The things they do sometimes stick in your mind forever - like when my neice was little and on a train with a very elderly man who was mashing his gums together. She sat opposite him and mimicked him the entire train trip much to the mortification of my sister!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.
