I was so excited when I heard the name and then, what a let down! He could have used a simple food processor for the tulles - why didn't he grind the almonds in it first?
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Did you see the TMX tonight on master class?
I laughed as it was referred to as a high speed blender (no name used), and was whisked out of sight pretty quickly!
I guess their high spending sponsors wouldn't have been too impressed to see it used in the first place.

Yes, more than a blender & Darren Purchase knows only too well.  He has used Thermomix at Vue de monde for 2 years and was the chef who put together the Aphrodite dessert at the Press Club, where they have the TMX.

Think the kiddies watching were suitably impressed by the high speed blender.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

We were very excited to see it again on Masterchef - is that 3x so far this series?  I have to admit that even thought the dessert looked amazing I was a little put off by the ingredients and when he described what titanium dioxide is used for (line marking on footy/sports ovals) I did think -well I don't usually get down and lick the lines at the footy, so why would I eat it in a dessert ??? ??? ???  Any exposure of the Thermomix is a good thing though, even with the inept description.

They were definitely impressed by its speed and efficiency in turning the toffee to powder!

High speed blender indeed.....hmph

Just how I felt MJ. Aren't they allowed to mention the word Thermomix on the show? To be honest although the dessert looked really beautiful I would prefer to tuck into a good apple pie and icecream.

i agree cookie, apple pie sounds nicer!!
at least they did something (as minor as it was) that showed the power of the tm.... they should be able to say what the machine is, otherwise why would they be able to use it on the show at all...... doesnt make sense   ??? ??? ???

Anyone else want to try Gary's Souffle with Crumble topping from last nights masterclass?  That looks fantastic, and good for a conversion.  I've never made souffle.  Maybe there's some recipes around here that would kick start a conversion?
