Fake Chicken Breast Pudding with Banana (with photo)
« on: June 03, 2010, 10:55:07 am »

* I've recently updated this *

I know the name of the recipe sounds a bit strange. It's because there really is a dessert in Turkey which is called as Chicken Breast. It's getting even more interesting cos there really is chicken breast inside! :)
If you don't believe me, believe Wiki! :)  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tavuk_gogsu

The recipe I post here is a version of that famous dessert. It doesn't include chicken breast. However it is very delicious like the original one.

Fake Chicken Breast Pudding with Banana:

Ingredients:
100g cacao or chocolate biscuits
250g margarine
170g flour
1 litre milk
220g sugar
1 sachet vanillin sugar (or Vanilla Sugar)

5-6 bananas (sliced)

(I replaced vanillin with 20g of Vanilla Sugar. So I reduced the amount of sugar to 200g)

Preparation:

Pulverize biscuits for 8 seconds on Speed 8 and set aside.

Weigh flour and set aside. Weigh sugar and set aside.

Melt margarine for 3 minutes at 90°C on Speed 2. Scrape down the sides with spatula and cook 1 minute more at 90°C on Speed 2.

Set Thermomix for 1 minute at 90°C and start on Speed 3. Add flour by spoon through the hole of TM lid.

Scrape down the sides with spatula and cook for other 1 and half minutes at 90°C on Speed 3.

Set Thermomix for 15 minutes at 90°C and start on Speed 3. Add milk slowly through the hole of TM Lid. Add sugar and vanilla sugar by spoon. Increase the speed to 3-4.

Cook for other 10 minutes at 100°C on Speed 4.
Mix for 10 minutes on Speed 4. (without temperature)

Wet the serving bowls with a little water. Cover the bottom of bowls with some banana slices.

    Pour down the pudding.

Place the remaining banana slices on the top of the pudding by pressing them slightly into the pudding.

Sprinkle with some pulverized biscuits on the top.

Let it cool down in the fridge.

Enjoy ..

I used different sized serving bowls (100ml, 150ml and 250ml) to try. In my opinion 150ml tea cups were ideal as portion size.

I've always bought them but I believe also home-made biscuits would be OK
There isn't a special brand that I buy
I buy usually plain ones with cacao flavour.
I added pictures of some that I usually use
It's up to you and your preferences
You will have them as crumbs on the top of the dessert
For me chocolate or cacao biscuits match better
I believe you will like the dessert when you make it no matter which biscuits you use   :) ;) :D

That certainly is molto interessante.  Interesting how it is cooked at slowly increasing temperatures.  That is one of the great things with the TMX - being able to set & walk away to do other things.

Think I would freak out if I had ordered off the dessert menu in turkey and received a chicken breast surprise !!!!  :o :o :o

Thanks again  :-* :-* :-*

Well Thermomixer, you would have it and you wouldn't even know about it! :)
Since you wouldn't expect that there would be chicken breast inside it wouldn't come into your mind at all
When you eat it, you don't taste it like chicken breast
As written in wiki, "it is softened by boiling and separated the meat fibers into very fine threadsl"
Maybe some day I make the original recipe and post here :)
