Hellloooooooo from the UK **waves at everyone**
« on: June 21, 2010, 09:01:45 pm »
Hi all, thanks for 'accepting' me on to your wonderful board.

Your kind selves and your delicious recipes plus the numerous blogs I've been reading helped me to finally make the phone call.

I ordered my TM31 last week and received 'Herman Therman the German' on friday.

I'm in love...**sigh**. :-*

I'm a full time working, married mum to two teens and I'd like to have said an avid cook....not good so much but keen. However I had lost my cooking mojo and had been spendng far too much money on takeaways and junk. That, however has changed and I'm off and away again re my cooking. It hasn't helped that I've been without a cooker for a number of months as my old one broke but I've kind of managed with the remoska which has been a briiliant standby.

Anyhow....new cooker gets delivered tomorrow so more 'stuff' will be made.

Here's what I've made so far...thank you to all who posted the recipes;

Friday when I received the thermo mix I made

Vegetable stock

Scones

Marinade for butter chicken

Iced coffee

Pepper sauce for pasta

Saturday

Cheesecake

Soup

Mushroom and garlic steamed rice

Gin and tonic slushy.

Sunday

Pea soup ~ disaster as used too much stock…too salty

Isi’s bread rolls from forum thermomix Australia

Strawberry and raspberry foam

Also though not in thermomix but had time to joint chicken and make oven baked southern chicken.

Mashed potato ~ put too much liquid in and it was sloppy but nice…no lumps.

Chocolate cake

Banana custard

Monday

Mushroom risotto ~wasn’t keen, too rich and ‘dirty’ looking for me.

Mars Bar crunch.

I have cooked more in the last few days than I have in the last few months...and it feels good. Should also add I'm from Yorkshire in the UK if anyone knows of it? :)

Right off to rustle up something else. ;)

Hi Mali, Welcome to the forum. They are a very friendly bunch of people here and have made me very welcome.I live in the U.K. as well. I live in the south, in Buckinghamshire. My DH is originally from Yorkshire, both his parents live just outside of Thirsk. It sounds as though you are totally in love with your Thermomix with all the goodies you have been making.Fun isn't it?

Hi Mali....  Welcome to this board which is a great place to find out all sorts of things about your machine.

I'm also in Yorkshire (Sheffield) and have had my machine for just over a year and love it.  Like you, it has brought back my cooking Mojo and I think my friends are getting a bit weary of all the eulogising I do.

Sounds like you're off and running with yours - good luck with everything you do and don't be afraid to ask questions on here as everyone is really helpful.

Hi Cornishcream and Katya, yeahhhhhh more UK folk. :)

Must say...I am amazed that the TM21 or TM31 aren't more popular in the UK, it was a complete fluke that I found out about them and couldn't understand why I hadn't heard of them before.

Its all good, hopefully they'll become as popular in the UK as they are in Australia and elsewhere.

Itching to make some mayonaise and butter,,,,just because I can... ;D

Oh Welcome and good on ya Mali!! It's the best way to start. So glad you all found each other. Just noticed you didn't like your mushroom risotto - you can use white button mushrooms rather then the swiss brown if you like a white risotto - I like the brown - funny hey!  :D  All the best with it and keep it up! ;)

Thanks Nay-Nay...but I think me and risotto are not going to meet again, I didn't like the texture...although I'll never say never. I may try a different flavoured version and forgo the mushrooms. ;)

Welcome Mali. I think we may have a Herman living down south of WA with his Mum/Carer/operator Meganjane.

Hi Mali, welcome to our forum.  Sounds like you are having great fun with your TMX and it is only early days yet.  The mushroom risotto didn't go down well in this house either, just a matter of personal taste I guess - different strokes for different folks.  Guess we just are not keen on risotto, full stop because I do love mushrooms. So many other recipes to try that you will enjoy though so keep at it.

What is not to love about Cairns ;D  We are very warm here while they are all into winter foods down south! Ah still it is nice to have the odd winterish meal.
