Another thermo newbie!

Hi guys,

My name is Marnie and I am the mother of 6 small kids. We are living in Perth, WA and I have just taken delivery of my new Thermomix 

I was really looking forward to getting my Thermomix and jumping right in but unfortunately between ordering and receiving it I have managed to break my ankle so instead I am stuck on the couch reading the cook book and looking up info on the internet about it while my hubby gets to have a play  So far he has made us pizza dough, butter and custard but I need to go and do a big shop for ingredients so we can give it a real try - we are looking forward to it!!

What a time to break your leg! I suppose it gives you lots of time to plan!
I have 4 children, 5 and under, and the thermomix is a lifesaver. Things like stroganoff make life so much easier. I even use it for stuff like heating up canned soup, because sometimes, I just don't have time to stir.
Also, check out I Love Bimbys choc cake recipe, it is so easier to whip up a really big cake to feed the masses!

Welcome!! Sorry to hear of your misfortune but looking at the bright side what a great oppotunity for hubby to learn how to use TMX and cook for you!! Enjoy it while it lasts I say!!

Hi Marns, a big welcome to you and your DH seeing as he is the chief cook and bottle washer at the moment.  The upside is that you can spend plenty of time on the forum and check out all our recipes, do some menu planning and generally order DH around     Hope the kids are pulling their weight too during this unfortunate period. I am not really sure how long I will be out of action! It's been 10 days now and I have an appointment with a specialist tomorrow so fingers crossed it's good news! I don't think I can sit on this couch much longer, LOL!

My kids are 8,6,4,twins 3, and 18 months old so although they are trying to be good they are a little too young to really help! my poor DH is trying to do it all and go to work whenever he can in between!

I'm writing a huge long shopping list this afternoon and planning several things to cook in the Thermomix once I can manage to put some weight on this foot again... I can't wait! This is a great forum and I've spent most of the day on my laptop reading and getting inspiration so thanks

Marns, 2 of my 4 are twins too. They are 15 month old identical boys.
Do try the stroganoff from EDC and the creamy salami pasta is nice too.

I join all the good wishes for a speedy recovery and hope it is good news at the specialist tomorrow. You will certainly love having a TMX with such a busy workload. And it will still be a wonderful thing when they are teenagers. You'll have the advantage of their having grown up with it and learning to use at as a natural part of life.

Hi Marns. Sorry to hear you are glued to the couch. I imagine that it's very frustrating. I know someone else with a TMX who broke their leg and was unable to stand for any length of period so invested in one of those high stools on wheels to scoot around the kitchen. She said it was great as she could still cook but her cat wasn't so impressed as she ran over it's tail a few times.

Welcome Marns to the TMX world!!!! I hope that your recovery is speedy.  The Mincemeat curry - judydawns recipe in Main dihes section of this forum - it is soooo delicious and ever so easy, you DH will be able to whip it up in no time!

Welcome and hope you get back on your feet soon.  I am slowly recovering from a knee injury so know the frustration of not having full use of your leg.  I always thought it would be a dream to get to sit on a sofa until I was forced to do it from an accident and then its nothing you thought it would be.  Get well soon and hope you can get to play and have fun with your machine real soon.  Take care
