Bean Balls (wıth photo)
« on: July 29, 2010, 10:10:24 am »

This is adapted from a recipe in a Turkish magazine. I hope you like it  ;)

Bean Balls:

Ingredients:
20g parsley leaves
1 quartered onion
300g canned Borlotti beans
1 egg
40g bread crumbs (+ some more to coat with)
Nutmeg
Red pepper flakes
Salt, black pepper
Extra virgin olive oil

Preparation:
    * Chop parsley for 7 seconds on Speed 7
    * Add onion and chop for 3 seconds on Speed 6
    * Add beans, egg, bread crumbs, nutmeg, red pepper flakes, salt and black pepper. Mix for 30 seconds on Speed 4. Let it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes
    * Cover oven tray with baking paper and brush with a little oil
    * Wet your hands with water, get walnut sized pieces from bean mixture (around 30g), roll, coat with bread crumbs and place in oven tray
    * Bake in preheated oven at 220ºC for 15-20 minutes. (After 10 minutes turn upside down and continue to cook)

Afiyet olsun :)

Tips/Hints:
In the original recipe bean balls are fried instead of baking in the oven. Since I wanted to make them lighter I preferred baking them in the oven. They were really delicious also this way

I used nutmeg instead of ground cumin because I didn't have any at the moment

Thanks farfallina.  I used to make a dish like this years ago when at uni.  Cheap food & vegetarian to please housemates.

The TMX will make this so easy,  :-* :-* :-* :-*
