« on: September 14, 2010, 10:15:07 am »

I hope you like ;)

Fig Bars

Ingredients:

15g butter
350g fresh figs
150g honey
170g rolled oats
100g blanched almonds
60g roughly chopped nuts
50g desiccated coconut
50g sunflower seeds
50g sesame
A pinch of salt

Preparation:

    * Melt butter for 2 minutes at 90°C on Speed 2
    * Add washed and peeled figs and honey. Hit Turbo button 5-6 times (for 1-2 seconds each)
    * Add all the rest of the ingredients. Mix for 1 minute on Reverse / Speed 2
    * Cover a mid sized tray with baking paper. Spread the mixture. Bake in 160°C preheated oven for 20 minutes.
    * Take it out of oven. When it gets tepid slice into stripes. (I've got 16 mini bars)
    * Put it back in oven and bake for 15-20 minutes more
    * Get it out of oven. Serve when cooled down

That looks so good! Would  I be able to use dried figs if I soaked them to rehydrate do you think?

zebraa hypothetically I believe you could but since I've never tried this recipe with dried figs I don't know about the right amount for conversion. Let us know if you try ;)

I love figs too and I have a tree, but it is a constant battle with the birds!  They sound great.  Good to keep you regular ! if you know what I mean?  ;) ;)

I think I might use the dried figs and leave most of the honey out. Will taste it and see.
