How do you keep up with posts?
« on: September 25, 2010, 11:50:39 am »
How do fellow members keep up with reading posts in this forum, outside this forum? I use Google reader. I just copy paste the URL of this forum into Google Reader.

Would be nice to know what other people do.,

Thanks

My google reader is so full from the blogs I follow I wouldn't dare add this forum  :o :o

I do use my iphone though when out and killing time to log in - still can't keep up to date. I have 52 pages of unread topics  :-)) on a brighter note - not being able to keep up is a WONDERFUL sign of growth which I love  :D :D

I don't have any other way than logging on and reading through the 'show unread posts' on a daily basis - suits me though.

Yes we are growing like crazy.

I suppose the "show unread posts......" is useful here.

I really like Google Reader as it gathers all subscribed information into one application. But as you say, it does become an information overhaul.

Thanks for your feedback

I use the "show unread posts" function.  When I first joined, I read everything.  I still try and keep up to date, but am using subjects more and more as a guide - they're useful to skip ones where the recipe is not something we'd be able to eat.

Google Reader is great for all the recipe blogs I follow.

I haven't tried Google Reader, must check it out. I use tabs (Mozilla) and have one on 'unread posts' and the other on 'new replies to your posts' in case someone has a question about something I've posted.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

I really struggle sometimes, especially if, as recently, I have been away for a few days and it coincides with Thermomixer being very active....  ;D ;D

I always use Show Unread Posts and skip quite a few if I'm in a hurry.   It's a shame because I used to enjoy reading all of them.

But as others have said, it's a good sign of how big this community is growing.

I  try daily to read unread and skim.

I  try to read everyday as it is such a big job if I can't. Otherwise I tend to read all of the boards I moderate and with others skim and select the areas of interest.  What was so easy before is now not so easy. I love it though. The recipes and hints and tips we have here really keep the Thermomix rolling. As I have said many times before this forum is responsible for so many of the things I try.
I know of 2 people who have a TMX and hardly ever use them. They say they are too busy to use the site and to be honest I think it would help them so much. One person uses is to mix drinks and nothing else. :'( :'( :'(

WITH GREAT BLOODY DIFFICULTY  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I tried google reader but it only seemed to have the first few lines and so it annoyed me.  Maybe I just don't know how to set it up properly.

Also, some people make heaps of comments  :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) and you can't do that from Google reader  ;)

OMG - just noticed it's over 8000 now  :o :o :o :o

I don't know what half of you are talking about with "google reader"  ??? I am fairly ignorant when it comes to all things technical. I'm proud as punch that I've managed to find my way in here!!  ;D

Anyway, as for keeping up with posts.. I'd be lost without the "show unread posts" / "show new replies" function!

I scroll right to the bottom of the home page to Info Center - Forum Stats and click on "View the most recent posts on the forum". This gives me 10 pages which usually means that if I check it once a day (or twice on a busy day) that I can keep up with everything that is going on. If something takes my fancy or I think there is a photo involved, I right click on the link and open in a new tab so I always have my original list to go back to. Works well for me.
