You have done the right thing by soaking it immediately.  How about then removing the soaking water, adding some hot water to cover the blades plus a few drops dishwashing liquid and give it a bit of a self clean on it's stand.  If you had one of Helene's scrubbies, that would clean it perfectly.

Thanks judydawn. Have given it a whizz around and got most of the goo off. Will now soak overnight. I must acquire some of the Helene products. Will put in an order for the spatula/brush/scrubbie set this week :)

I now have the Indian cookbook thanks to a generous forum member! And I have been cooking from it today.  I made the chicken in yoghurt the vegetable curry the Bombay potatoes and the pilau rice. In the background iS the no fuss bread which was left longer to rise and pleased with the results my best loaf so far.   Tonights cooking made up for last night no cooking as dinner out.

Bombay potatoes nice, next time I would add a bit more liquid so they had more sauce.  There was plenty of sauce in the other curries to make up for it.

 I have cooked a few dishes from the book and everyone likes the Bombay potatoes.

I add cauliflower and keep liquid the same and makes a kind of aloo gobi which my family always enjoy. :)
