New TM owner of an Old TM

Hi,

My name is Dan and I just received a barely used TM21 (unfortunately without any manual) and I will be seeking some help from other TM21 users or former TM21 users to figure this thing out.  It is a USA 120 volt model  Very nice forum with a ton of information/recipes!

Dan hi are you in aus? Head office is clearing some foreign language books and tm21 books at the moment. I am not sure if the tm21 books are in English I can check for you if you like.

I have printed out the conversion chart and have downloaded a user manual online for the UK version in english.  If anyone needs the link to the manual I can post it or email them the link.  It was a free download.  Just did it a few minutes ago.  Would really like to have a "real" manual and not just a PDF copy but I am in the US.  Not sure if I should get started with this in the Introduce area but besides the user manual, what other manuals/recipe books came with the TM21?  I tried the US distributer in FL but no more manuals or books for the TM21.  Last question is how do you tell when this thing is up to the set temperature?  There is no temperature readout on the TM21 that I can find.  Will take further questions to the regular forum.

Hi Dan, welcome to the forum.  Hopefully you will be bombarded with all the information you need from owners/previous owners once they read this thread. I would be absolutely hopeless without a manual and cookbook!  Good luck with your machine, let us know how it all goes, although I'm sure we are going to see you popping up asking questions elsewhere.

Hi Dan, U.K.Thermomix sell a cookbook for the TM21, called "The New British Cookbook"- a general recipe book for the TM21.They might sell you a manual as well.Give them a call, they are extremely helpful and will tell you how much it will cost to post to you in the U.S.

I think you may need to hook up with my sister in San Francisco ! last month she also picked up a TM21 (see my post TM21 found in San Francisco, introduce yourself section). It is an amazing appliance. We also ordered spare parts from Chuck in Florida, he was very helpful and the prices were very reasonable. Like you got the manual of the internet, the UK version as you described. Dont have the instruction manual for TM21 but you probably dont need it anyway. Once you work out that it doesnt heat up /cook unless there is a time set ! You know when it has reached full temperature as there is a colour change in the dial, believe the hottest temperature turns red, and remembering it is in fahrenheit where as our temperature is in celsius. When using the machine, we worked out it was best to start from the top dial and work down, didnt go wrong once we decided to do that. You also need to get your hands on an Everyday cookbook, it comes with the TM31, but can be bought separately, but not from Chuck in Florida !! believe there is a consultant in Canada that you can order stuff from, plus of course any of the consultants here in Australia could get one for you as well. Plus you already have the conversion chart, have been informed the TM21 is a more powerful machine which is why some of the speeds are less in comparison to TM31, also no reverse but got around that by keeping it on the lowest possible setting, plus using the butterfly stops things getting too chopped up. If you want to trade info with my sister in San Fran let me know. I have recently purchased a TM31 so have been lucky enough to play with both thermomix models. I have a TM31, i bought it last October.
A couple of months ago, i bought my Mum a TM21, so we use both.

I just worked out the TM21 myself, with no manual.

Thanks everyone!.  I did order a few spare parts (spatula, extra butterfly, etc.) from the place in Florida but they are totally out of manuals or any recipe books for the machine.  faffa_70 has been a great help in getting some manuals/recipe books and I have been going through those and converting some of the recipes i want to try to US measurements for the US model TM21.  I am not absolutely sure that my wife enjoys all the stuff I am making or if she just tells me it is wonderful because she doesn't have to cook as many meals anymore :-)  I have spent more time in the kitchen over the past few weeks then I have done in my entire life but it is fun to experiment with the TM.

i will check out the U.K. cookbook link and mysterysusan, i agree, finding one of these in the U.S. is quite a chore but I was fortunate as well in finding one in great condition.
