Strawberry Lemonade
« on: November 09, 2010, 09:16:48 am »
This recipe appears in this month's Delicious but I have cut down on the sugar.

250g punnet of strawberries, hulled and halved
150g castor sugar
125mls water
250mls freshly squeezed lemon juice

Place berries, sugar and 125mls water in the TM bowl and cook for 10 minutes/100o/speed 1.
Place a tea towel over the MC and blitz for 10 sec/speed 7.  Strain the liquid through a fine sieve and into a heatproof jug and place in the fridge to cool for at least 1/2 hour.
Add the lemon juice and 3-4 cups very cold water - try 3 cups, taste it as some strawberries will have more flavour than others. Add the 4th cup if needed.
Pour over ice in tall glasses to serve.

Makes 1.5 litres if you use the 4 cups of water.

Thanks CP63.  I've been sitting here wondering what to add to it for adults and came up with a dash of gin - now I have a Mummy drink :-)) :-))

Love your thinking JD. I can see by the photo that your presentation is centred around cocktails.  :D

Yes, it is a bit over the top for kidlets isn't it - not to say they wouldn't appreciate having a fancy drink served up to them.

I've made mocktails for my boys and they loved the dressed up drinks so the looks are not just for the adults. It looks great JD. Wonder how it would go with a sparkling water.

Most drinks say sparkling water VHJ and I must admit I was surprised when this one just said to add plain old water. Always have that on tap  :D :D Try the sparkling water though, should be fine.

Can't get strawberries much cheaper than that Cookie, fill the freezer at that price  ;)

I must say that this drink gets better by the day.  The flavour becomes much more intense than when it is first made so I would definately make it at least one day beforehand (2 would be even better) if you want to serve it to visitors.

Keep coming back to this, ink I will give it a try tonight if I have any energy once the kids are in bed. Although I love valerie's lemonade

So wondering if I made that to serve it with instead of lemon juice - prefer to use the whole lemon, and it is easier than squeezing them lol- probably reducing/ leaving out the sugar in the lemonade? Will report back...
Oh and a ldi has strawberries on special for $1.69 this week although even early this am they were looking more like cooking strawberries than eating strawberries!!

Looks great.  I might try it with adding some soda water to give it some bubbles.

Debetha yesterday I clicked on that link you posted but ended up not getting it and had some computer troubles for the rest of the day so I was unable to see how Valerie's recipe was made.  Not game to click on it today though :D :D Guess you can just try things for yourself, like you I find it a pain juicing so many lemons and in hindsight it would have been quicker to put my juicer attachment onto the mixmaster.  I made double quantity the other day so you can imagine how long it took to squeeze 500mls lemon juice  >:( >:(  I left the syrup in a jug and just mixed up another jugful at a time as you do with cordial.

I managed to open the link JD - I think from memory and looking at the recipe, it is the same one that is in our EDC or close enough to  ;)

Have done the syrup bit, yet to try - will make some unsugared lemonade later & post back once I have! At work so minus edc but for some reason I preferred the lemonade recipe on the link - mustve been simpler  :D it uses the whole lemons skin and all. Def easier than juicing. And tastes fab
Now just need some sunshine (for all I know there might be some by now but no windows here!)
