How great is the THermomix??

Hi All
I am on a THermomix high at the moment and have spent the last few weeks living on this and other Thermomix forums. I first discovered the THermomix on Masterchef and at the time, thought to myself "now that is cool". I then had these thoughts compounded seeing it used on Iron Chef and the Barista World Championships. I had requested a demo a number of months ago, but didnt hear back from a consultant, but recently decided to give it another shot and I was glad when I recieved a call the next day.
It was my hubby that surprised me when he said "maybe we could get a Thermomix for each other as our Christmas present" Couldnt say No now could I?? He is as excited about our demo as I am, and he doesnt even cook!
THe consultant arranged a time for me to check the "Thermie" out and I am excited that this evening I will get to meet "Thermie" in the flesh! We have allready decided purchasing one is a done deal!
I am located in Hobart, Tassie and I noticed there are only a few fellow Taswegians on this forum. I will be keen to hear from them and learn if they have experienced any of the cooking classes (there is a Festive cooking one on next weekend).
I am a little nervous about ensuring that my Thermomix recipes are a success and I am very grateful for the wonderful variety of recipes available by fellow members on this site. I think I will be giving recipes from the forum a go before I give any from the book a go!
I am hoping that my "Thermie" will arrive before CHristmas! Cant wait to chat to you all as I progress on my THermomix journey with you all.

Hi All
Well demo went well until we got the jaffa custard and the consultants thermie broke down!
I finished the custard on the stove top. Didnt stop me from going ahead and ordering one though! Hubby wanted to know if they came in different colours..
Apparantly I can expect it to arrive late next week so I will be prepping the pantry for its arrival!
One of my guests was a thermie skeptic and left one too...a bit sad that she didnt realise its full potential but I guess the Thermomix is not for everyone..
Counting down the sleeps!!

I just can't believe it
I am not a consultant but find it so heartbreaking. Am glad that you didn't let this stop you, and know that you have gained your confidence from this forum.
I am not a consultant
, and know that lots of members on this forum who happily post are purely satisfied customers. Of course, a TM is a machine and is not infallible (like humans) but from what I have experienced that if there is ever a legitimate problem there is no hesitation in rectifying it.

Hi Creampuff.
I did feel sorry for the consultant but she handled it like a champ and I think because it didnt phase her, that I wasnt concerned and that maybe it was something she felt wasnt a bid deal...I am very optimistic as you can tell.
I had allready decided to buy one and it was this forum that cemented that anyway.
After the demo, I got home and googled the problem and didnt find anything and she said normally when something goes wrong you gett an error message so it was strane, hopefully she can fix it.
Off to go and search for some recipes now so I can make sure the pantry is stocked up for my Thermies arrival!

Well done flipper. Poor consultant. Happend to me once when I was showing off risotto. Now that was a pain the the bum. If only I had followed the direction is the book to rectify the error!

How exciting Flipper! I bet you're busting for your new arrival.
I am a new consultant and so far the worst thing I've done is almost turn the coleslaw to soup! Not the machines fault. If something went wrong with my TMX, I'd be a mess! Good on you for going ahead with your purchase. You would have made your consultants day!
You wont regret your decision. They're a life changing machine!
Enjoy and keep us posted. It would be interesting to know what actually went wrong with her TMX.
