My Christmas Tree

Hi all......we have a thread on the "taste" forum, where we post pictures of our Christmas trees.  It's a lovely way to see how others decorate their trees, and share their traditions, so  I thought it would be nice to do that  here 

P.S......still getting some ornaments from ebay...so I'll post pics  after they arrive

Nice idea..still haven't done ours yet. Need to get up into the roof to bring it down. So I will be doing that this week.

CHRISTMAS - 2010



I'm not a traditionalist when it comes to decorating the tree, or anything really......so you'll guess by the pics what my favourite colours are  
This years theme is gingerbread men.











I love changing the theme each year, and always decorate it when the kids are in school.  I love them to have a surprise when they get home.
Would love to see everyones  trees

Maddy that is amazing!! Did you make the gingerbread tree decos? Do they get eaten before Christmas comes along

Thanks Meagan.....the gingers are made from felt, and I had ordered them through ebay.  I'm sure I could have made them myself...but don't have the patience!  The gingerbread houses were from Amazon in U.S.....thought they would be perfect along side the gingers, but they sent the wrong ones.....and the postage cost was just horrific! but I just had to have them 



 Oh well.....they'll get used again

Lol now that I look closely ( without the kids all over me ) I can see they are fabric gingerbread men  so I guess they don't get eaten from the tree then

Now why doesn't it surprise me that your Christmas tree would be so beautiful - what a wonderfully creative person you are maddy.  Thank you so much for posting your picture for all  of us to see - afraid I haven't the room for a big one like that and resort to a tiny tabletop one which is nothing to write home about.  My favourite decoration is one my MIL bought us many years ago - a 'carousel' which plays 20 carols and the 4 horses go up and down.

I do so envy people that can get their tree decorations nice and symmetrical. We always had a live tree until a few years ago. We just couldn't find places to plant the oversize ones once they grew too large. It was ok when the family farm was still around but after that ?
Now we have one that lights up by itself and changes colour. The year Mum died (just before Christmas) we didn't have a tree, so I bought the first one I saw in Myers.  Christmas was a little chaotic that year. Fortunately I had done all the gifts as our local shopping centre had free gifts etc for those that shopped in November. We still have it. I'll try to remember to take a photo tonight.

Actually I have two trees.....a small one for the dining table, and I managed to find some cupcake ornaments for it.



and somewhere to put the spare balls, and a trap a stray bird!



Judy, I'd love to see your carousel ornament.....I have always loved them!

What a beautiful tree Maddy,perfection!! Well ,you are all going to laugh at mine( if I"m brave enough to post it)DH went out and bought it from a local Christmas Tree farm on Monday.It's Bent. He put it up yesterday and we both couldn't stop laughing.I will dress it today and see if I can make it look gorgeous but I think that we should have been paid to take this one away

I always have problems getting pictures to post - haven't succeeded yet!! Otherwise I would show you the chaos that 5 kids can make ranging in age from 19 to 3 lol. This year I decided that we are going to have one colour theme each year and the lights and glass ornaments I have been collecting. This year it is purple  - still waiting for the lights to materialise from the shed though

Post any of your pictures girls - even if it is only for a laugh, it is Christmas time and anything goes    Looks like you will have to go with DH next year to help pick out the tree CC

I would Judy but it's something he particularly likes to do on his own as it coincides with his Birthday.It's his contribution to "helping" me prepare for Christams.
