Orange and almond meal cake recipe GF

2 oranges 730g

6 large eggs 70g or 7 small 59g

250g caster sugar       

250g almond meal       

1tsp baking powder

1tsp poppy seed 

Extra caster sugar for dusting before baking
Icing sugar for dusting after baking
Margarine or oil spray (for greasing the pan)


Cut oranges skin and all  in1/4 cook in the varoma dish
20 mins on varoma heat speed 3 MC ON

remover water from bowl and add the oranges
slowly turn  to speed 9 for 30 sec MC on scarp down i do this step 2 time. set  aside
no need to wash bowl
cool bowl down for 5 mins
with butterfly on add sugar and eggs beat for 1min on speed 3 MC on
add orange mix blend for 1min on speed 3 MC on
add  almond meal  blend for 1min on speed 3 MC on
add baking powder blend for 1min on speed 2 MC on


please let me know if i have done this right  :-\

Grease a 20 cm spring form baking pan with margarine (or vegetable oil spray) and dust with caster sugar.
Pour batter into the pan and sprinkle caster sugar on top and bake for 1 hour to an hour and a half or until the top is golden brown.
Dust with icing sugar to serve.

Hi there. I almost do mine the same way but I have never bothered to weigh the oranges. I have just used 2 oranges and hoped for the best and it seems to work out well. Also, nice touch with the poppy seed- haven't tried that one and I have a packet of poppy seeds in the pantry- shameful, I know!!!!!

Me too, I never weigh the oranges. I have tried the cake not happy with it, it’s a bit bitter I think I will simmer my oranges for 2 hours like in the original recipe
and than do the rest in the TM.

I am so dumb its on page 136 in the EDC book. I better start reading b4 I convert recipes it took me so long it was my 1st. :'(

Ahh don't worry many have converted recipes that were already converted  ;)

I've had my machine for 2 years and I didn't know it was in the EDC. Who cares as Meagan said.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

memories, when i 1st got my TM i was so sacred to use it and now i just throw everything in and i am done
