new to forum thermomix and forums in general
« on: January 05, 2011, 11:42:14 am »
Hi all
I am new to all this forum stuff, so still trying to navigate my way around.  I joined the Thermomix Recipe Community first and then here.  I was wondering if there was a way to save recipes that you like.  I have figured out how to do it on the Recipe Community, but not here - do I just need to cut and paste them into my own document or something?
Thanks

hi Pippa and welcome!!

I just save them to a word (or other text document) and print. But despite being quite a techy I do love my printed recipes, lol. Hate my Mac going near the kitchen unless necessary.

I like to save all the recipes I like in my own file lest a recipe is removed from a site. You can save the recipes on your computer or mail it to yourself on a free email account such as hotmail or gmail so you don't lose it when you change computers or internet providers.

Thanks Zan and thermoheaven, just wasn't sure if I was missing anything obvious  :)

As for the Mac going near the kitchen ummmm....I am terrible, mine constantly sits on the bench to cook from.  I really should do something better as it would only take one spill from the kids (or me of course) and it would be a disaster.  DH says we need an iPad mounted to the kitchen wall - sounds good to me, but possibly a very expensive recipe book!

Pippa I'm an older forum member and I just print off any I would like to try. Hence I have an enormous folder of trying recipes and an almost as large ones of tried/good recipes. I know it costs trees but I'm from the paper generation.

I'm with you on that one Cookie - it's an age thing for sure.  At least when the forum crashes or the computer breaks down, we know we have enough recipes to keep us going for life.  Too late now to learn new tricks.

I think I am in the middle generation - young enough to work a computer without having to learn anything new, but old enough to struggle with forums, facebook etc.  I was allowed to handwrite assignments when I started university, but had to type them by the time I left 4 years later.

I'm ike fundi and thermoheaven. That way I know I have a copy and I don't have to remember which forum or site to look in. I try not to print a recipe out unless it's a winner - after I've printed it, I find it difficult to throw away.

I print out recipes, lose them, print them out again, lose them, then just give up and take the laptop in the kitchen to cook from!!  And I know this may sound silly, but I even do it with my OWN recipes off my blog!!!   ;D

Not silly at all = I've done that, too!
