Choc Chip Cookies

Here is my first attempt at converting a faviourite recipe for the TM. I made these at 6am thismorning. The come out perfect. Please comment if you note any mistakes with the recipe. There are probably other recipes similar or the same as this but here we go anyway.
Choc Chip Cookies
150g Butter
100g Brown Sugar
85g White sugar (or Raw)
1 egg yolk
1 tsp vanilla
220 g Self raising Flour
choc chips as desired (I add 100 grams)
1) Pre heat oven to 180 degrees and line baking trays.
2) Place butter, sugars and vanilla into TM bowl and cream together for 20 seconds on speed 6, scrape down sides.
3) Add egg yolk and beat on speed 3 and gradually add flour, set lid to closed lid position and mix for 30 seconds on Interval speed.
4)Add choc bits and mix for 20 seconds on reverse + speed soft.
5) Roll mixture into balls and place 5 cm apart on prepared trays. bake for 10 - 12 minutes or until lightly browned.

No Problem, Everyone who tries these cookies wants the recipe. The cookies are a favorite in my house. I'm going to try and convert some other favorite recipes as well.

Hi Cornish Cream,
I made 38 today, which are around the average size biscuit when cooked. I don't make the balls of mixture overly big as they spread quiet well. I probably only have a dozen left now though as between my kids and some visitors they ate quiet a few. lol. But I guess they are made to eat.

i will have to try this one soon, i made the chocchip cookies from the edc yesterday for the first time, and although they tasted great, they were quite a soft cookie. did i do something wrong, or is this the stlye of cookie? i cooked them for the recomended time and did look cooked, so took them out of oven. after eating them i thought they maybe needed longer cooking but the colour was right, if i had of left them in for longer i think they would have burned. anyone else had trhe same trouble?
well done dede for converting so soon, i have had my tm for 2 months now and am addicted to this forum and have cooked a different meal everyday since we got it! cant even remember my old recipes or how to cook without tmx now! too many yummy things on here to try.

I found the recipe from the EDC had too much butter. I tried it once and wasnt 100% happy with the result either that's why I decided to convert my own recipe. My recipe makes a nice crunchy cookie. So give it a go. Maybe it's because I only use the egg yolk. I have a friend who makes it but with the whole egg and her recipe is a softer cookie.

Thanks for the recipe Dede, what's the equivalent to "220 g Self raising Flour" using plain flour and ... Is it baking powder or bicarbonate of soda (sorry can't remember which your supposed to use)?

Hi tarasis,
The recipe for S/R flour is in the EDC. it reads
150g plain flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cream of Tartar (optional)
pinch of salt
Mix together
You would need to make up a double batch to get enough for the Choc chip recipe.

I would just use 220g plain flour and two good tsp of baking powder.

Thanks Dede & Chelsea that helps, ESP to have two options.
I do have an EDC but it's in German and that's not my strongest point ATM
keep meaning to find out the contents of the UK version and order it if different enough. (though oh how I wish there was a PDF so I can use it on my iPad, digital cookbooks are useful)
