Bumpity bump  ;D
Bike ride with DS2 this morning, was a lot quieter than riding with DS 4 who doesn't shut up lol I think there were about 5 words from #2 boat duck swan bike and truck lol the rest was the wind rushing past my ears. I am actually really enjoying the riding thing. Pretty good food day today breakfast as usual, coffee (this will stop when DH goes back to work as I can never be bothered making myself one in the manual coffee machine) a couple of small biscuits and a cuppa at a friends for morning tea, lunch was 5 rice thins with avocado tomato cucumber and cheese, dinner was quirky jos cashew chicken reheated from last night. A couple of teaspoons of TMX Milo ( couldn't resist when putting it on thekids yoghurt) oh I did have a shandy with dinner. It has been a long day with the kids  :-))
How is everyone else going?

Well done Meagan and thanks for keeping this thread going. I Reached the 3kg mark since I got my TM in mid December and wasn't even trying. I was amazed as I'm just going about usual business and using the Thermomix to make real food. Cyndi's smoothies for breakfast are fantastic and I look forward to them everymorning and have some left over. Lunch is usually what ever is around and that's got to be healthy as we don't have too much of anything else in the pantry and fridge. I have afternoon with the kids which today was a small piece of Pizza Biance and some fruit and dinner was steak with some mushroom sauce (didn't need the cream) and steamed veges. I love that I'm not hungry. I still get to bake, cook and be creative in the kitchen. I used to sample all the empty calorie items I made (I didn't realise they were so at the time). I hope everyone else is having good results with their healthy choices. Keep up the good work.

I am sure it is a bit of a drag reading about the ins and outs of my day  ;) but I will dribble on anyway. It keeps me accountable 8)  When I woke up this morning it was all quiet so I went for a solo ride  ;D haven't had anything to eat as yet.  ;)

I am still doing my 5.55am walks with girlfriends.  Now I actually wake at that time anyway, so it's much easier than the first few days.  We do 3 x horrid river steps each time, too- works the glutes!  Am going everyday now.

It's no drag at all to read about your activities Meagan.   What you might like also to do is to keep a log yourself of your daily food intake and exercise undertaken so that you can review it weekly and bask in the glory of your achievements.

I used to have a grid on A4 with Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Other and Exercise across the top and days of the week down the side.  I found it helpful to fill it in regularly for a few months.  Once I stopped doing it, I would go back to doing so if I felt I was getting back into bad habits

The biggest thing is to make the first steps towards change and it looks as if you are doing a great job of that.  Keep it up  ;) ;)

Well done Meagan for keeping us on track!

As an additional supprt if anyone is interested in joining yet another forum ( ;)) try myfitnesspal.com It allows you to track your eating (not only calories but sodium, fat, etc) and log your exercise as well. I found it made it so easy to keep myself accountable, you can even put in your own recipes and it will break it down to show you exactly what you have consumed. I have bronchitis at the moment (in my 3rd week or it grrrr!) so haven't been exercising at all, but as soon as I'm better will be getting back into it. If anyone does want to join (oh and there's an iphone and android app for it too), my name on there is donella73 if you want a friend!

Meagan I look forward to reading what you have been up to. I'm still being naught and not walking, I'm blaming the heat. I must admit I do enjoy my morning walk. DD's block is about 2km away and the walk is up to that and back.

Boy I had a busy day yesterday and today  :o
Yesterday was cyndi protein smoothy  :o still can't believe I drank a whole egg raw :-X lol coffee, subway for lunch and friends over for tea - pizza ( again I know!! Twice this week) and the champagne slush from myoc so started the day well but it went downhill from there lol

Today has been flatout. No exercise as child #1 woke at 4.50 with a bad dream and once he got back to sleep #2 woke at 5.19 so an early start making for a long day. Cada and yoghurt for bfast, left over pizza for lunch, chicken pumpkin salad for dinner small scoop edc ice-cream with TMX Milo, need to do a ride or walk tomorrow to make it 5/7 this week.

So cookie food could have been better but not any binge eating or comfort food stuff so that is all up a great week so far ;)

It's the comfort stuff that gets you. I know. Also the bits we pop in our mouth instead of the bin. Keep it up. :-*

Still pretty good Meagan. What would you have had on such a day if you were't being conscious of your health.

As for my exercise today, I have a really sore bottom. Rode the furtherest I ever have at 64km. I thought I was done at 40 but my lovely DS9 decided he wanted to ride the extra 17km back to the car instead of getting a lift as we planned. I had only had a banana for breakfast so luckily another rider gave me some lollies to keep my blood sugar up. I will be much better prepared with some TM snacks next time. What would you suggest as a good high energy snack when doing fairly strenuous (and yes I realise it's all relative) exercise that is easy to prepare the night before? Not sure about dinner now maybe DS will have to rustle something up for the family since he wore his mum out.

One of my favourite high energy snacks are these 'treat balls' - I've been putting raw cacao nibs in them too, lately, which gives them an extra bit of energy boosting power!!!  I also like to eat a banana and a handful of pecans/almonds when I need a quick energy boost, like in the car on the way to a demo... I try to grab a piece of fruit as I rush out the door, and I find it a good idea to keep a ziploc bag of nuts and dried fruit (and bits of dark chocolate if possible) in my handbag!   :)

Thanks Jo, will give the treat balls a go and see what else I come up with and post that on the forum at a later date.

I am so glad to see this thread is still going.  It is great to read and very inspiring.

We have just come home from a week at the beach house and it was a big test for me.  I stuck to my plan to powerwalk every day, eat small serves and cut out snacks, but I did have an icecream one day and some chips when we were out at dinner one night (oh and some divine chicken and port pate ;)).  I really enjoyed the treats though and didn't worry too much. I am so close to reaching the 5kg goal now and am still motivated.  I bought a new pair of jeans while we were away and am determined to still be fitting into them in twelve months time.

I did read something interesting in a magazine while we were away regarding weight loss.  A fitness trainer said that ultimately your weight is determined by what goes in your mouth.  She gave the example that it takes over an hour of full-on exercise to burn-off the calories in one regular muffin (or something like that!).  Not a reason to give up exercise of course - but is certainly food for thought.  :)

Some time ago, Adam Spencer (on Sleek Geeks) took some people on a walk through Sydney to work off what they had eaten for breakfast.  It was really interesting...and exactly what this fitness trainer must be talking about.

The WALK OFF !!
Our volunteers munched on their favourite foods and then had to walk (5.6km per hour) until the kilojoules were used up...

Here's how long they had to walk:

DASHA - 63kg
Low Fat Smoothie & Breakfast bar - 2590 kJ
Approx 16km (just under 3 hours walking)

DEBORAH - 52kg
Large Mocha with cream - 1653 kJ
Approx 11km (2 hours walking)

TANDARRA - 68kg
Banana Split - 2510 kJ
Approx 16km (just under 3 hours walking)

NICK - 88kg
7 slices of gourmet chicken tandoori pizza, salad & a can of soft drink - 6,341 kJ
Approx 25km (4.5 hours walking)

ADAM - 75kg
3 beers, chips and peanuts
Approx 29km (5 ¼ hours walking)

EEEEK!!!!  :o :o :o :o
