KJH, you need to bake them wrapped so that their colors wouldn't change during baking  ;)

I made this bread last weekend and it was amazing!   Everybody (I sent some round to the neighbours of course!) was very impressed and it wasn't difficult at all.

I will definitely do this again (now I've found a source for squid ink and fresh yeast!), thanks very much for posting it.

Very beautiful bread. Luckily i live in Spain where you can buy squid ink in every supermarket and only cost 1 eur for pack of 5.

I does look a bit dense on the picture but i guess adding some more geest or some sugar could fix that.

Can you taste all the different flavours in this bread? Or do all layers taste pretty much the same, and it is the colours that are the striking thing?

You can taste the flours KJH
Mostly turmeric and tomato concentrate
It's nice to have it with some cheese or ham
