Todays Experiment
« on: January 21, 2011, 11:42:51 pm »
Today I am going to blitz a whole orange and add it to the bimby chocolate cake mix minus the cocoa and with perhaps an extra 50g flour and see how that goes.  I love orange cake but love the simplicity of the Bimby Cake.  Will let you know if it works.

Good for you Sarah, we love seeing people tweak &  make variations of recipes - hope it is a success.

Slight adaptation due to poor quality orange!

170g butter - melted
blitzed with peel of 1 orange and one whole lemon
then add
350g SR flour
370g sugar
4 eggs
250g milk
1tsp vanilla essence

1min/ sp 6

Baking in a lined tin now at 180o C.

Will advise how it turns out.

Makes a firm cake that needs a thin layer of icing ( my preference ) but other than that it's very nice.  Would also be very nice served warm with cream and/or runny custard.

Yum.
If you have a look on about pages 13/14/15 or ILB Chocolate cake recipe MJ has put lots of lovely variations to that too.

May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.
