I'm NOT on the program and fighting the decision.  I kind of know I SHOULD be but I also have a pathalogical hatred of all things diet related and clearly they don't work because I've been on hundreds and am now fatter than ever.  However, since I am now fatter than ever, I really ought to do something ....

In view of having to do something can I hang around here anyway ...?

A friend of mine has just joined WW online and she said some of the girls keep a blog relating to their weight loss adventures which she enjoys spending quite some time reading.

Hi Joy Natalie,

Yes, such a funny coincidence how many of us gained weight when our beloved Thermomixers joined our households.....not that we'd want to go back to life before it came though!

You have my full sympathy for having to undertake the horrible task of trying to lose weight. I have done it a few times and it is so not fun. You are on the right track with WW though. I did it a few years ago and it really helped. I haven't actually joined up this time (I got my Thermie in November so I'm right there with you) but am just doing it on my own because I remember enough from last time. I am losing the weight veeeeeery slowly but I'm ok with that coz I'm hoping it means I'm losing fat instead of just water and muscle and that the loss will be a bit more permanent. So if it's ok I'd like to hang around too  :)

I went to my first meeting last night I am not sure how helpful I will find  group thing.  I guess I do know the whole eat less move more but think I will struggle with counting points, writing everything down.  thanks for the online suggestion, Judy that might work better

Have a look at Cindi O'Meara's website. Much more TMX friendly and no points etc.

Just lots of really good , healthy food.

You can tell us your weight loss each week and what you eat. We won't charge either. You would have to be truthful though or we would jump down the phone line after you. :P :P :P :P

I did WW for a while ( a few times) and the key to remember is to go to the toilet just before you weigh in... some called it cheating, I called it "timing". Seriously though, I liked it more than the programs that provide you with food, as at least with WW you are learning the principles of eating well and are encouraged to cook it yourself! Thermie is therefore your best friend! Good luck!

Hey all thanks for the suport! I know what to eat and being a vegetarian I am really conscious of what I eat.  My problem is the portions control!!!  I eat too much! I cant wrap my head around eating 30 grams of cereal for example, I eat a bowl so in that way I guess it is good and I can l earn to adjust but it is hard

Aargh - I've bitten the bullet and signed up for WW online!  I've also calculated the points values of the pumpkin and corn soup - per serving its 2 (pro)points assuming you use 2 tablespoons of olive oil in the whole recipe.

I don't understand the point system Nik but best of luck.  100 years ago when I dabbled with the WW diet (through a friend, never joined myself) it was all calorie counting which I found easy but time consuming.  I'm usually fairly careful what I eat and would go as far as saying I know I shouldn't have had 2 servings of dessert tonight  :-)) :-))

I joined WW just before Christmas because I'd heard about their new ProPoints plan. I'm loving the plan, but I'm still not losing much weight. I've only lost 900g over 8 weeks! It's been very up & down, & I put on 900g last week even though I followed the plan & have been swimming at least 30 min a day.
It's really frustrating & I'm now beginning to think that I can't lose weight, so I need to be pleased that I'm learning to eat healthily with both WW & TMX!
I'm focussing on healthy eating & getting fit - any weight loss will be a bonus.
I find that using the online tracker is really easy to manage the points, & it's also on my iphone, so great when I'm out & about.

Ooooh, I must get it on my iphone!!  Did you measure?  It may be that you're not losing weight because you are gaining muscle.

How much do you need to lose?  If its only a little, its bound to take longer than if you need to lose a lot (I need to lose 2-3 stone).

I'm sure its much more important to focus on eating healthily and getting fit than the numbers on the scales.  I would like to be able wear a skirt in the summer without my fat little leggies rubbing together  :-)) and be able to lose the heartburn which I'm sure is related to my weight (its probably also due to my big fat babies but the weight won't help!)  ;D

Interesting you should mention heartburn Nik. I suffered heartburn during my pregnancy and for the past three years since our son was born.  I always thought it was pregnancy related.  I have lost some weight recently though and the heartburn has completely disappeared.  I haven't had it for a couple of weeks and it used to be every night.  I really didn't realise how many areas of my health were affected by being overweight.  :)

Yeah I did measure, & my waist is 2cm smaller, although I can't see any difference. I have 6 children (they were all quite large), so I do want to lose my tummy! I do have a lot to lose, about 29 kg according to WW, but I would be happy with 20 kg.
My WW day is Wed, but I jumped on the scales this morning & they've moved down!!!!! I hope they stay down for Wed.
According to my scales I lost 600g, so I'm feeling happier.
