How to Puree small quantities
« on: March 03, 2011, 01:39:08 pm »
The baby food recipes for TMX tend to be for large amounts to freeze in portions.  But if you're wanting to puree a small amount of your dinner / freshly cooked food for your baby, the key is to use Speed 4 so that it doesn't disappear up the sides and not get pureed.

Many thanks to Janie Turner of Thermomix UK for this tip.

As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

I think adding your rice basket would also help - that is one tip that I often give when it comes to herbs etc. Think speed 4 would make a huge difference too. Much like I cream butter and sugar and speed 3 for about 1 min now. Keeps it all down around the blades  ;)

Yes, I added my rice basket when I was trying to find a way myself, but it still didn't cut it.  But then I was using normal puree speeds, I definitely didn't go as low as speed 4 when I was trying.  I think you're right that a combination of the 2 might be ideal, though.

I now always use  Faffa's method for creaming butter and sug. Great

I think we forget how powerful the TMX is and that it likes to splatter everything around the sides of the bowl at high speeds lol

I know what you mean - I've been cooking porridge at speed 4 for ages to stop it sticking to bottom of the pan.  Downside is that the lid and the sides of the bowl get covered in porridge.

It's only this morning that I thought about trying it at speed 3 and the result is much less splattering but still no sticking.... plus a much easier bowl to clean.
