Etiquette and Blogs
« on: March 05, 2011, 10:49:28 pm »
I was just wanting feedback on etiquette and blogs as I have just created a blog on my little cooking adventures mainly and the thermomix and its all very new and just starting off but wanted to ask about what the etiquette is mainly with translating recipes as I have an english version and want to create an equal french version.  When I make recipes from the forum or books i have just just put a link to here or wherever I got the recipe from but the problem lies in the translation as alot of people I know here cant understand english recipes so would it come down to asking each time a kind of authorisation to translate that recipe even though most recipes are a conversion from books, sites or non thx recipes??? but still reference with a link to here for example??

would appreciate any input, advice etc as I dont want to offend anyone and its just a way for me to put all my fav recipes and photos etc in the one place and share it with all I know..

I already have friends abroad asking if the thermomix is worth it and quite interested and have been directing them to this forum also to give an idea of what can  be done..

anyway any thoughts would be appreciated!!

Nice to see your blog up and running Frozzie, will pop in from time to time and check out what you've been cooking.  Love the photos.  Sorry I can't answer your question re the French blog you want to set up, I'm sure someone will know though.

People have put their recipes here freely and as long as you acknowledge the person in the recipe when you translate it and post it, I'm sure it will be fine. Though, the nicknames we use may not translate, so you'd have to use the English words!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

thanks mj thats what I thought too and the nicknames would remain the same as like a name they dont really translate and it wouldnt be their real one  :)

I think most bloggers (like me) wouldn't mind you using recipes from their blogs as long as you ask permission first, then always link to the original recipe on the blog it came from :)

Frozzie, your blog looks great.  :D :D Very well set out - so many have stuff plastered all over the page and you don't know where to look. I really enjoyed reading yours. Will continue to check in on a regular basis.

ouff good ..thanks JD..was thinking that maybe it was coming up with some french as my 'control panel' is in french but for me the blog is all in english..most of the times its a default ie language to the country you are in..its all good though.

just figured out how to edit so added the reference to the book(s) I converted it from..
