Black Olive Pate (with photo)
« on: March 18, 2011, 08:31:58 am »

I make this very often and we are all very satisfied with it
You might have a similar one in your EDC, I dunno ;)
That's the way I make it

Name of Recipe: Black Olive Pate

Ingredients:
300-350g pitted black olives
1 clove of garlic
90g extra virgin olive oil 'EVO' (60 + 30)
1/2 - 1 tsp salt (*)
1 tsp dried oregano or thyme

Preparation:
    * Close the lid of TM 31 and start on Speed 6. Pour olives and garlic through the hole of the lid and chop for 20 seconds
    * Scrape down the sides and the lid of TM Bowl with Spatula. Puree for 2 seconds on Speed 7. If you wish scrape down with Spatula and repeat this step a couple of times.
    * Add 60g of EVO, salt and oregano. Mix for 1 minute on Speed 3-4
    * Put it in a jar, add the remaining 30g EVO and store in the fridge

It's adapted with a few changes from Io e il mio Bimby

Tips/Hints:

(*) Before you add salt, check how salty your olives are and adjust salt accordingly

Keep in the fridge at least a couple of hours before you have it.

We have an olive tapenade in the EDC farfallina but I haven't made it. I'm not sure if it's the same or not.
Our olive tree only has 2 olives on it this year, but we have some friends who have lots on their tree.

This one from Italian Bimby Book Cookie, I made a few changes on it dough, however i can say that it is basically same with the one in the book

I make it quite often. My husband likes it a lot.

Around here there are many olive trees, they are mainly used to produce olive oil
We are occasionally given some olives or olive oil by some friends
But I always buy 'pitted' olives to make pate cos I am lazy I guess ;)

I made this yesterday and it is really delicious. Fortunately there is a little left over for tonight's drinks. I served it with crudités and Uni's Olive Oil crackers.

Our olive tree has lots on it this year so I'm sure I will be making it even more often farfallina. Thanks.

It has grown quite a lot. This is our first year with a decent crop on. Our friends tree is laden too so there will be olives everywhere.  ;D
