Frozen Yoghurt Flavours
« on: April 10, 2011, 06:42:58 am »
Oh Dear this is the very first thread I have started here.  :-\

I work in a primary school tuckshop and we seem to be tossing Greek Yoghurt as it reaches its best before date, so I suggested that we freeze it and use it for NATURAL frozen Yoghurt instead of the BULLA one that takes like a concoction of chemicals.

Now my delemma is to be able to make it with tasty but affordable fruit.  Berries are too expensive at the moment.

To start it off I have:
passionfruit pulp that I have strained
Mango pieces in the freezer
Apricot puree

Can you think of any other flavours that would work and yet be affordable?

Congratulations on your first thread foodiepep.

I can't really help as I'm not sure what fruits are in season with you now but pineapple with passion fruit maybe an idea?   Would you be prepared to use already frozen fruit as that could be cheaper than fresh fruit in some cases?

What are the flavours of the Bulla ones that the kids already like Foodieprep?

Not ideal but tinned fruit in natural juices drained and pureed could be a good option when fruit is expensive and in short supply. They would still better than ones full of "stuff" that come in a packet  ;)
