cooking Class in Paris.
« on: April 29, 2011, 06:37:36 pm »
Well,  I did it last night and certainly learnt a few things.  Scrape the skin off your ginger with a teaspoon.   Tie your apron around the back and then in front,  and tuck in a tea towel.  Braise your asparagus in a little water, oil, thyme and garlic.   Could be done in a dish in the  varoma.  When you burn the edges of your pastry shell  just cut it off with a sharp knife,  and don't bother to peel and pre cook the rhubarb for your tart,  just cut it very small, ( in the THX of course.). When I have time I will convert the recipes and type them up.  The meal was "elegant" and I will give the whole menu when I have time.
Members may be interested in that I have a recipe book from South Africa and a Medieval cook book.   Both have very interesting recipes that I think are convertable.

Nice to see you pop up on the forum Chookie, you are missed and I also look forward to all those recipes you are going to convert and post once you get home. More countries to visit yet though so that list may grow even longer  :D :D
Interesting things you learnt at your cooking class - if the ties are long enough I do the back then front thing but never thought to tuck a tea towel in, great idea.  :-* :-* :-*

Isn't it wonderful when you learn something new? So glad you're enjoying your time in Paris Chookie. Thanks for checking in.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.
