Not quite a book review, more a book comment!

I have just received a copy of a book called Rainbow Recipes published by NSW TMX consultant, Aileen Sforcina. I'm pretty sure it has only been released fairly recently.
It has just arrived and I’m at work now so can’t sneak too quick a peek at it, but from glancing through it it looks great and well presented. The recipes are vegan / raw food, so possibly won’t appeal to everyone, but for those interested in these diets I think it could well be a valuable source of recipes. When I first emailed her she sent me some sample recipes to browse through. All recipes are presented using the TMX as well as conventional cooking methods, so a very versatile book.
Unfortunately we go away in a couple of days so I won’t be able to try any recipes out for several weeks, but if you want to follow up on the book you can email Aileen at aileen4health@bigpond.com and she will send you a copy for a modest fee ($35.00 plus P&P).

Do you have to get permission from H.O. to publish a cookbook or can anyone do it? Obviously all the recipes would have to be original and not reproduced from any other source? No, I am not planning one - just curious

I think its an interesting question because if you convert a recipe to TM you can call it your own. So I can't see why using an appliance solely to cook has to be run past the company and especially if it is self funded and published. What is the difference between doing a slow cooking cookbook as to a TM -- maybe Vorwerk have copyright or registered interests...dunno
People can publish books on any topic so why not TM - there must be a reason.

I was mulling this query over last night as well, CP63, and came to the same conclusion and provisos as you. In fact, I would think Vorwerk would be delighted to get as many recipes and recipe books published as possible, after all, it is to their benefit in the long run.

guess we should find out soon JD..she mentioned mid this year so should hear about something soon if it all went well??
As far as publishing recipes converted for the thermomix dont think that would be the problem if there was one but the use of the word thermomix, vorwerk or promotion of it to benefit sales of non vorwerk products etc I imagine they are heavily copyrighted...ive not seen any non vorwerk cookbooks and this one is the first I have heard of one...would be interested to hear if she did get permission or needed it?? A thermomix recipe after all is a very specific type of recipe?? Curious now! I know that companies like Vorwerk, Tupperware and other high end 'home sale' based companies are very strict with copyright of their ideas and products..anyway all that aside..the book looks interesting!

Found Tebasiles version of something that you may like to try Lexi - just substitute with sago.

I use organic Tapioca pearls . The brand is: Markal.
I adapted the recipe from Nourishing Tradition and soak 150g tapioca in 950g milk overnight in the fridge. Cook it for 10 min/100°C/Speed 1 and 30 Min/90°C/ /Speed 1. Add 3 egg yolks with 50g rapadura and lime zest, cook another 5 Min and add the whipped egg whites. "

I know that they were photographing for this book last week & it's expected to be out towards the end of the year - in time for Christmas gifts I'm sure!!

Have you had a sneak look at the contents JZ. Hopefully someone will be posting an index from the book when it is ready for sale.

Picked up my copy of Rainbow Recipes today. Really looking forward to trying some of these recipes. As a predominantly ovo-lacto vegetarian, I usually find vegan cookbooks a bit dull, but not this one. Still trying to decide which recipe to try out for tomorrow's dinner. Great job Aileen.
