Thermomix App for iphone/ipad (RoboGourmet)
« on: May 13, 2011, 12:21:00 pm »
Finally there is an English version of RoboGourmet app for iphones/ipads. I just downloaded it. Looks to have quiet a few recipes and all especially for the Thermomix. Cost $4.99
So if you have an iPhone or iPad would be well worth downloading
(More recipes for me to try)

I got an email from the guy that developed it, but I'm happy really just using my laptop in the kitchen if I need to.
I don't pay more than $1.19 for any of my iPhone apps.

Let us know what you think and whether it's worthwhile.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

I have had a good look at this app and am quiet impressed with the recipes. There are alot of recipes that I would make with ingredients that are fairly easy to come by. There are a few recipes for gluten free and healthier options. Would be great to have photos included ( maybe and update in the future)
Not a bad app and $4.99 is a cheap recipe book. I noticed a few forum members recipes have been used on this app as well. I look forward to updates and new recipes.
Worth a look is my personal opinion.
I would be interested to hear what other people think as well.

In reference to the SPINACH & POTATO BAKE - there is something drastically wrong with the quantities here.
I thought I'd try this one as a side dish but it ended up like soup.  I was wondering perhaps if they mean 1000g of potatoes and not 100g?  The amount of liquid had been questioned by another forum member when she sent me this recipe (knowing I like spinach and potatoes) but I thought I would give it a go, against my better judgement, and hoped it would work out.
I didn't bother with the final stage of baking it in the oven - why would you bake a soup :-)) :-)) but decided if it was going to be a soup I might as well add a few more ingredients.  Steamed some diced chicken breast, carrots, potatoes, mushrooms and celery, added them to the original mixture along with a tablespoon of vegie stock concentrate.  Can't say that improved things much though but I will soldier on and eat it rather than waste it.

Hi Judy, i have a message for you about it :) (i have told monica she should join up herself ;))

Quote
Hi Karen,

I just noted that there were some comment on the Thermomix form you moderate regarding the Spinach and Potatot Bake. I didn't want to post personally but perhaps you could pass on the message:

We apologise that there are a few errors on the current version of Robotgourmet which include:
1) Potato and Spinach Bake (ingredient list should read 1000g potato, not 100g)
2) Hame and Pea Soup (200g split peas not 50g)
We are working hard to correct errors and constantly update content with new recipes. We aim to release new recipes every few weeks. We thankyou for the feedback and apologise for any inconvenience.

regards,
Monica

Thanks Karen.  Do we know Monica?  It's not the Monica as in GL in SA is it?

That's good to know, Cant expect every thing not to have some mistakes. I received an update recently adding an extra 50 recipes to the list. If I brought a recipe book I don't get updates and extra recipes. Not a bad buy and I can email the recipes to myself to print them out if I need too.

I justSplurged on this it's the most I've ever spent on an app! I like that it stops the screen turning off that really drives me nuts as I always use iPhone when making stuff off the forum! The format seems good and easy to use! I'm just marking the ones I want to try, fetta & spinach muffins don't seem to have spinach in them though!

I did the sweet and spicy Moroccan lamb the other night, and it was quite tasty.

RoboGourmet seem to be keeping an eye on comments made on this forum so any anomalies in recipes could be noted in this thread and get their attention pretty quickly I'd say.  I liked Karen's suggestion to them that they join the forum - that way they could comment themselves instead of going through a third party.

I've heard a lot of people say they think it's worth buying... I've only had a quick look as I don't have an iphone, just this Android tab. If you want to ask questions/make suggestions, there is a RoboGourmet fb page.
