I am defiantly the wife, who thinks whole foods are a definite for her kids. Most people think like that when they first hear the price of the TMX, some are soon converted if they actually go to a demo but some people will never see the sense in it - those type of people on that site are not the type of people we want on our forum to drag it down.  Was an interesting read though LeeJ and at times even funny.

I suppose I thought so too Judy, it was when I was thinking about investing in a KitchenAid that I decided to weigh up the pro's and con's.

I can still get much much more out of thermie yet 

I suppose if you have no interest in food, then it would seem a bit silly

I can understand people being put off by the price - we bought ours a couple years ago with the bonuses that the government gave us - so it was a bonus. But then I realised we are SO busy in the evenings (kids have commitments every school night) that we were buying takeaway every week. We're a family of 5 - it was costing approx $30 to get something that wasn't too deep fried! That's $1560 a year!!!!   

Then there's all the other savings - using up bits in the fridge as a minestrone instead of chucking out - making your own bread - etc.. etc...

I am one of only a couple people I know to own a machine - I've found most people think they'd be a great idea except then they say stuff like - yeh - but I'd still have to cook! They don't care about all the nutritional benefits and think if you want to eat whole foods you're queer!

Ahh well - our little secret I suppose!

Have to say it did make me laugh.

But as a North Shore mum I think I'm the only person in our school to own one, though my friend is in the middle of ordering.
But maybe it's a bit slower to take off in the upper north shore - further to travel, lol , :-)

But if you are happy with store bought and no interest in making things yourself I guess it would seem silly to buy one.
Would like to know how you can get 2 weeks in Italy for under $2000 though, maybe you don't take the kids?? Hey I just want a couple of weeks in London sans family and can't afford that.

We saved the price of the tmx in well under a year. And I thought we rarely bought packaged food and we don't do takeaways any differently (ie very rarely, lol). If anything we eat out more as the kids are that bit older.

I'm the only real life person I know that has one but I also don't know anyone as interested in food and cooking than me.  I'm still not convinced its saved us money but with three growing boys who've now started to eat A LOT its difficult to say.  It wasn't about saving money for me when i bought it, it was about having the ability to throw together a nutritious meal from raw ingredients, that might actually be eaten .... 

DH thinks its worth it just for the vindaloo I can make in it! 

Some people clean, others cook.  Cleaning, I'm not so good at ....

Haha yes dont know either what trip to italy costs 2000...maybe if u travel alone and stay with friends!!  As for thé Anti thx comments well for sûre if u dont cook and dont like to then its not for u... And yes its expensive but for me worth every penny!  Saying that everyone is entitled to their opinion ... Only thing i find totally wrong is referring to owners being snobby housewives... Couldnt be further from thé truth...everyone i know who has one havé all sorts of différent incomes and lifestyles and none of them are snobs

That was actually quite funny and the puffer vests cracked me up and I know I wont be able to look at the rich school mums who wear them without having a little chuckle 

I actually felt the same when I first heard about TMX, but once you see it in action and do your homework, well.........

Oh and I do have a kitchen aid, bought one years ago before everyone had to have one, because my Kenwood died and the KA seemed like a great replacement, which it is and I certainly won't be getting rid of my KA

Me too.  I'm glad we are so much more civilized here.  I hadn't realized it was such a status symbol!! All my customers certainly don't fit into that stereotype - most a struggling pensioners that could see the value in cutting food costs and healthcare by cooking real food but not taking all day to do it.
